Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Just had to do it, Got myself a guest account and spending the evening on Guest and off then on AH and then off to guest again, doing speed tests, streaming, torrenting on both, long story short AH suck at this test, they used to be awesome but sadly is slipping. Will be doing these test probably up to the 24th ...

Yeah I'm pretty disgusted that they shape capped accounts. I'm giving them till the end of the week then I'm gone.

WTF happened to Afrihost? I mean Gian used to send out monthly emails to all clients to explain how the business was doing and where he saw it going. I think I can recall one email he's sent since being taken over, a sign that he either doesn't know where Afrihost is going or he has no control over it. Either one is bad news.

So this morning international is moer toe again, thanks Afrihost!

I wonder if the CPA will get involved? We are all paying for something that is broken and as promised on their website. There is more than enough posts here to show that it isn't isolated incidents!

If Afriman/guy/girl is reading this, have a look at the Afrihost Satisfaction Poll Thread. More than 80% of the clients voted are unhappy. Is this part of your mission statement?

I speak for everyone here when I say it is time for Gian to send an official communication explaining the issue and what (in detail) is being done to resolve it and by when it will be fixed!

Totally agree with you Aquiva. I requested same but never got a answer....It's actually quite sad that A/H has gone from hero to zero...

I had to change my account temporarily to an Axxess account. It irks me, because in effect I'm just pushing money back at them through another channel. I've reactivated my old Web Africa account this morning.

Truly, if they're having problems, then I can deal with it. AH has given great service for a long time, and I enjoyed being with them and recommending them to friends. BUT - and this here is key - I won't tolerate being spoken to in obfuscating corporate speak when things are obviously going poorly. The fact that all p2p is down on capped accounts is considered Very Bad, and it would be nice having AH acknowledge it.

AH, just don't put this on your website:
IZzpRZx.png
. It makes things 10x worse when you're not honest about it.

Email I got.

Also please bear with us as I have the most recent feedback from our Management Team, in summary:
Apart from the recent increase in bandwidth demand, the devices Afrihost uses to manage our ADSL network needed software updates before more capacity could be ordered.
The software updated have been done and Afrihost has ordered more capacity throughout all regions.
There isn't an ETA on additional capacity; but it has been ordered.
With that said; our network appears to be stable at this stage due to some changes we have implemented.
As soon as possible kindly test & let me know.
Thanks in advance for the feedback, & thanks for your continued patience.

My line this morning does seem a little better, I must be one of the lucky ones.

Hang in there chaps

Jeez, it really didn't take MTN long to destroy afrihost, did it?..

I honestly think some legal action is in order. There is more than enough evidence to prove that they are shaping on the capped/business accounts. You cannot advertise these as being unshaped, and then shape them without any consequences.

If they came out and said "look guys, we have an IPC issue, it's expected to take x weeks to repair, and unfortunately we need to shape a bit until then... Here's what we're going to do to make it up to you...." then that's a different story. However, the lack of transparency, the lies, and the level of disorganisation show that they need to be punished financially (because this is clearly all they care about).

This is actually fraud as far as i'm concerned. Advertising a product that is very different to that which is delivered. The worst part is that they're still allowing more people to sign up for a service that cannot be provided.

I really feel that their competitors should be jumping all over this. WebAfrica, Vox, Crystal Web, Telkom Internet, etc are all losing potential customers to afrihost based on fraudulent advertising. In the very least the ISPA should do something about it.. Surely, under the CPA, all business and capped customers should be subject to a full refund.

All that Afriman will say is : I promise you capped accounts are not shaped.

Just an update from my side, currently getting an average of 500kb/s on p2p using a 20Mbps VDSL line, its the best speeds i've had in about 2 weeks from AH. My WA and Vox accounts are perfect. At least there's some improvement, just hope it stays like this and only gets better as if by the 25th it isn't, then ciao AH...

Morning Guys

Unfortunately I can't reply to each and every post here. If I have missed any queries and requests for assistance, please PM me so I don't miss your query.

We don't shape Capped accounts. I see that a test is being used here as evidence, and I don't know the full methodology behind these tests. Ultimately quite a few people have posted what they feel is definitive evidence, but we don't have any rate limits or throttle imposed on P2P traffic for Capped. So we don't have the rulesets that correspond to what is being said here. I can't really say more that that. If you are testing during period of high demand and contention, results could be intermittent and tests results will vary.

I also see that many people are posting on several threads with the same information or comments. This is making it really difficult to for us to help the clients we can, who are still having general day to day issues. I am totally open to discuss any general unhappiness over PM.

Stop lying. You're not providing me with the service I'M PAYING FOR. That is all.

All that Afriman will say is : I promise you capped accounts are not shaped.
Technically he is right. High demand could result in an account feeling "shaped". Either way, it is absolute crap. I feel sorry for Afriguy, but why pretend everything is A-OK?

Don't you think there is a problem when there is more than one account of people having the same problem and where when they use other accounts things are hundred percent?

All that Afriman will say is : I promise you capped accounts are not shaped.

Agreed.

The Bible also says that the universe was created in 6 days..

Afriman, claiming something to be true is not proof that it's true. Surely, if afrihost are not shaping, then you should have no problem in dismissing these allegations?

Because as things stand, all the evidence seems to suggest otherwise. In fact, the only proof that you can offer us is your word..
