Something wrong with your configuration? Ask Afriman/guy/genie to check up on it, I have 8ms ping within cape town (

International though:

Had under 200 ping and 8.7mb down earlier this afternoon?
EDIT: Adding some more, the ping improved, so International capacity issues or something with the peak in demand?

Do you get the same result using the MTN speedtest servers?
I did these tests with an Afri-peep today... and the MTN servers, on a test account, were hitting 53ms for local Cape Town, 9ms on non MTN server, JHB 77ms, 40ish for non MTN.
I was told this is normal.
I was actually asked to resubmit tests to support, again, so that some more investigation can be done... but, if this is deemed normal... and packet loss and latency is OK on the MTN Afrihost network with these Capped accounts then what is the point?
My experience of Afrihost support, Afri-peeps on the forum excluded, is tracerts, tests, diagnostics, then complete and utter nothing until I ask for feedback, then repeat tracerts, tests and diagnostics, then again I am completely ignored and nothing is received at all, until I chase it up again... even my Critical Care experience resulted in zero response to all email and more than a week of nothing.
So... I am more than a little reluctant to go through those hoops again.
BUT...
I ask myself just what would be resulting in this packet loss and latency spikes on every hop of the Afrihost MTN network and just why this is not seen as something anomalous and rather alarming? is it perhaps intentional... it has been ongoing prior to the upgrades and has persisted post-upgrades. Business Uncapped is seeing similar results... yet the network is fine and everything is normal.
The real rub is I would REALLY like these capped accounts to just work like they did in the beginning of the year... they flew and took everything in their stride... before the Twitch buffering started, before the Youtube buffering and quality degradation... and then the IPC capacity issues...
Post upgrade an improvement of sorts, but Twitch streaming never recovered, and Youtube still struggles... and THEN the iOS update crash followed by another IPC capacity saturation and now it seems to be stuck in this stage.
Where is the Afrihost of old?
The company that celebrated the underdog?
The champion of us little guys?
Now we get the corporate management decision fob-offs
Rather lose a client completely for good and cancel all services than credit for the month of IPC rubbish, etc. etc.
I have seen this more than a few times where loyal clients requested a refund for the month and were told to rather claim double-money back and have all ties cut...
Management decisions I am told and must remember that management know clients better than they do themselves.
So... Johnatan56, I suppose yes, this should be followed up by Afrihost support... after all how many times must it be shown that there is nothing this side of the exchange that can be done to fix these Afrihost "normalities"... these issues do not persist or even appear on other ISP accounts at all... there is nothing that I nor Telkom can do to address this Afrihost MTN thing... it is completely and utterly in Afrihost's dominion. There is nothing more I am able to do but perhaps completely run out of patience and quit hitting my head against the same wall each time expecting a different outcome.
It used to work beautifully... but nostalgia is but a finger-grip really and not a sustainable support.
