Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

I won the Twitter comp thinking I'd be clever and ask for 1GB of mobile data in exchange. Your staff tuned me no ways, lol. Will give it to froot below

Ah OK. Yeah we wouldn't be able to change it I'm afraid :(
At least you've made froot happy, now he owes you a milkshake.

Unfortunately not :( Unless you purchase an additional GB for APN use, assuming he's got an MTN contract.

It sounds like he has a mobile contract... so isn't it possible to give him a 1GB topup and charge it to my account?

I really hope it does.
I don't think we can expect stable ADSL until Telkom have fully resolved the issues in your area though :(

There was a Telkom dude down a manhole right outside our property earlier. Apparently some lines were damaged somehow and he was fixing them.

You should have closed the cover and told him he can come out when it's fixed ;)

Haha, you should get his details! Good Telkom people are like hoender tande :)

Seriously though, I think as much as we bash Telkom - probably 99% percent of their people are hardworking and awesome and we just have the misfortune of dealing with the other 1% :(

I should have got his name. Seemed like an OK dude.

But then again, I should have closed that manhole cover:

Been like this since around 1pm. Was running perfectly fine at over 5Mb up until then.

No man, that's terrible! I wonder why the line is not sitting right after all these fixes from Telkom? :(

It has surprisingly been OK for the last 5 hours. Had to reboot the router at around 2pm as the line just went dead again.

Been communicating with Kyle all along. Speedtests, Trace Routes, different account logins, the works.
Like I told Kyle, the line will be perfectly fine for a whole day, then be dead overnight.
Or it will start off with me rebooting the router countless times in the morning, finally getting a connection and it will be slow for hours, then suddenly jump to the usual 6+Mb.
Or it will randomly jump from being super fast to dog slow 3 or 4 times in an hour.

As I said a while ago, Afrihost should just go take over the whole of Telkom's ADSL.

I think it would be awesome to have our own infrastructure - but fibre, not copper :)

But then again, wires are so 1980's ;)

Well there you have it. Tell Gian to take out a mother of a loan, and lay fiber all over South Africa. He'll make a load of money :D
