Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

Now Client Zone says 4 connections active.

PC is not even on and I am browsing via Wifi on my Galaxy SIII and the SO is browsing via her iPod.
And I switched my PC off due to almost non existant video streaming capabilities over Youtube. Again.....

I think this youtube issue is more a youtube issue than isp issue cause its been sucking balls since their system changed in the beginning of the year. sucking real bad on mweb too.

Up until about a month ago I never had issues watching Youtube vids at 720p (or even 1080p on vids that had that res).
 
Well to answer my own question. Got a test capped account and it's running smoothly so far. Now to test throughout business hours.
 
Router was off the whole night and now rebooting it for the 7th time to try get a connection.
Afriman, will send a reference number to you as soon as this connection decides to work.
 
Full ADSL performance has been restored, so everything should be back to normal now.

Okay! So this is good news. Saying that...
a) Can you please share what happened
b) What was the timeframe of the problem (trying to tie back to my periods of poor performance)
c) When was the problem first determined? i.e.: is the information flow from Afrihost Networking Team --> Afri<people> --> (Forum) Client efficient.
 
Huge thanks to Afrigirl, AfriMan and AfriGuy and the Lady at Telkom who did some tests and sorted the issue out.

It was an authentication issue and since last night the line has been working perfectly and does not drop a connection when the house phone rings.

Great to hear that this is also working 100% now. Just a personal note that even complex issues like this can finally be resolved - gives me hope :)

Nice that it is fixed ...... the fix doesn't sound right but ........... (?)
 
Well, the test that works for me is seeing if a Youtube vid is watchable at 720p, and so far there are no issues with this one at 720p: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMYveGrOE7c

I watched the RSV4 one at 720p with no issues and that was while the WSBK vid was buffering in the background and I have a download or 2 going at the same time.
So, yes, I am happy again.
 
Who is using my account? I had approx 1.8 GB left. I pulled 1.7GB via the news server. I logged off at approx 09:00 and switched back to my uncapped account! At approx 17:00 I get an email to say my capped account has been capped! Er? Over 6 hours after the fact?

I think there is something screwy happening with Afrihost - Just got an email saying my cap has almost been reached on one of my accounts - the stats on the clientzone and associated account data log shows over 80GB downloaded TODAY on my one dsl line.

Funny thing is my firewall stats show only 1.4GB downloaded today. Also, it's a 4mbit/s line so not sure how its physically possible to download 80GB in 18hrs.

The same thing just happened to me. Got an SMS saying I have been capped, yet yesterday I had 19gigs left on my account. Clientzone says I am 1.93gbs over? There is no way this could have happened today as all we have done is a bit of email.
 
Ditto this issue, 4 gigs gone overnight and capped. I thought it was steam updates and topped up, within the hour capped again with a message that I am 2 Gs over which would be deducted from next months data. Topped up again and the 2 gigs were deducted.

It now appears from similar reports that there is an error with usage - I trust that if this is an error that Afirhost will reverse the top ups!
 
Logged a support ticked and received immediate response - error acknowledged.

We have had a look into the matter and there has been a
problem on our end.
How ever we will allocate the bandwidth to you shortly.

We had some issues with our sessions management system, that also tallies data. We're busy resolving these anomalies, and everything should even out once we've reversed the appropriate changes.

You can drop me a PM so we can make 100% sure that the active connections are all from the same number and then we can kill any unnecessary sessions.
 
Thanks Afriman. It was showing 1 active connection about 20 minutes ago and then the connection died.
And now rebooted for the 7th time and no luck.

Sigh...
