Packet loss is in CT is abysmal, I had to use a 3g connection just to log into my BB account.

Sorry to hear that. We're seeing some funnies on our side affecting some clients, so we will try to improve performance as best we can until the upgrade arrives.

Sorry that you're having such a poor experience. We can continue to work with you to try and improve your speeds until we receive the network upgrade that we're waiting for. But it shouldn't be more than a few days more :(

Speeds very sluggish tonight on AH capped. So much for unshaped, my IS shaped uncapped account is performing better...

Yep... Sadly speeds down here in CPT are up the creek again. :(
Very sluggish throughput. No packet loss tho.

@Afriman, I had a business uncapped 10mbps account and swapped it for a 500Mb capped account. I must admit I was disappointed as I expected the capped to outperform the uncapped which wasn't the case. I was getting closer to 10mbps on speedtests on the uncapped but not so with the capped. Is this normal?

I see webafrica have two capped account types - home and business. Afrihost doesn't seem to distinguish between the two.

Sorry to hear you're getting these mixed results. We'll definitely need to look into this. If you are in the Cape (South) region, it could be due to ongoing capacity issues on the network.

The important thing to remember is that a business account is a capped account - except with no data limit and a CLID restriction. Otherwise, they're exactly the same, so it's probably likely that whatever you're experiencing on the capped account would have been the same if you were on business.

Will you drop me a PM?

There was an issue last night in CPT, right?

Not 100% sure - becuase there was no overall effect on our usage graphs - which auth will usually show up on. I think if there was an issue it was very brief or only affected a small area in the Cape. Could have been a Telkom outage or something like that.

Bundled clients received Mystery Bonuses for the last two months - I'm hoping though that we have something more permanent in the pipeline. Time will tell :)

I am on a bundle, 50GB capped data and 2mbps adsl line

I received my bonus. 16gb of data.

Pricing
Bundled

50gb data and adsl R297

unbundled

100gb capped data R199
ADSL line R165
Total R364

A R67pm price difference for an extra 50GB for 6 months(300gb)

Top up data from Afrihost 10gb at R50pm

I'm unbundling next month.

Somebody fixed something last night at around 12AM :p

Still lots of packet loss but now back to the levels before friday evening.

So from what I have read so far - I'm staying away from afrihost until the "capacity issues" have been resolved.

thank you for this. at least someone has confirmation taht I wasnt the only one suffering sever packet loss

Should be soon now, when there is enough capacity AH capped is pretty solid.

That was my understanding, that afrihost is the one to go with. But these capacity issues have been going on for several months now..guess that is why they are giving away so much data - keep clients "happy"
Will be using webafrica for the time being.
