Afrihost CAPPED ADSL Feedback (MTN)

I used my capped account this morning for about 2 hours due to my uncapped account's non preformance and it went full spend for most of the time.
Occasionally dipped to 380kB/s, but most of the time it ran between 412 and 426 and occassionally peeking higher.
4Mbps in the EC.

Remember that Capped accounts are drawn differently and getting highest priority on the network. So when demand is higher, Business and Capped accounts should perform better than Uncapped - depending on the level of demand vs available resources.

Riddle me this; The free 1GB trial seems to be performing at double the speed than the 100GB Capped

Whats going on here?

It depends on the sync and level of performance when you connect. Sometimes an account will resync the line and perform well for a period and then start degrading (also depends on the cause of the degradation in performance).

Generally, all things being equal, both are capped accounts composed identically (except for the CLID restriction on Free FB accounts)

That sucks - not sure what's happening here :(

Can you drop me a PM please?

Just got a reply to my ticket now, line is now activated but showing the wrong sync rate (showing 10Mbps but my line sync is actually 40Mbps). Is this a bug in the Clientzone?

Sounds like there is something going pear shaped going on. Will need to check on our side. It's not a known bug that I am aware of.

I just ran the "Test my line" tool, the numbers don't really make sense:

Downstream:

Upstream:

Upstream showing 3Mbps (correct), Downstream showing 10Mbps (not correct).

I really can't say until I see the results myself. It could be that some of Telkom's systems are not performing correctly or how we've pulled information into ClientZone.

I've just sent you a PM. My R600 pm bundle is somehow costing me almost R1200 this month...

My 40mb shows as 10mb in the Clientzone. Always has.

And whatever you do, don't click Fix my Line........

I see its Tweak my line now. I clicked that once and I needed Telkom to fix the result :)

The Fix my line function usually looks at the most stable sync, and sets your line to that :) It does a few checks on the max sync speed, SNR etc.

Hi Afriman,

I signed up for a capped bundle last month but the transfer was unsuccessful. I was then informed that I need to cancel the data portion with Telkom first.

Long story short the data portion of my Telkom account will be terminated at the end of this month and I'd like to know when I should contact support to restart the process of moving my line over to Afrihost?

Thanks!
