We definitely do, we have ordered the capacity, and now unfortunately we must wait for the capacity to be delivered.
So it your responsibility to plan and manage. I can't believe you want to blame Telkom.

It's like blaming the dog for eating your homework

It sounds like we need to troubleshoot with you to see why you are having a poor experience since you seem to be getting poor performance across all services. This certainly would not be the case if we were to be shaping or rate limiting as you had suggested.

The North has been upgraded and to my knowledge we're not planning further upgrades in the short term. Obviously improvements are continuous and we'll monitor and make changes as we go along. We have some firmware improvements for our network management devices pending, so we also expect to make continuous improvements. Obviously in the long term we're continuously planning for additional capacity and network changes to improve overall performance.

If you're open to troubleshooting, I'd be happy to chat over PM so we can get some testing going.

The issue is that I'm not getting poor performance across all services. HTTP is perfect and hence I can get 38mb/s on a speedtest any time of the day. For the past 2 months you have constantly placed the blame for slow P2P and NNTP on contention. Now the IPC has been upgraded and speeds are still slow..

How can you suggest that the problem is on my side? It's very clear that this is not an isolated incident! You're replying to all the complaints, so it's safe to assume you've been reading them.. I'm happy to PM you and troubleshoot, but we both know that isn't going to fix the problem.

When the north capacity got upgraded the other day, things ran smoothly that night. But that was the end of it! I even posted a picture comparing my speeds from before and after the upgrade (here it is again) AH Performance.png

Only now it seems to be worse! When using the aforementioned services, I can't even get close to line speed anymore. Not even for 1 second! Now it's just stable at 850kb/s. The stability leads me to believe that it isn't a contention issue. Again, I get a constant 38mb/s on HTTP and a constant 850kb/s on NNTP. What happened? Why has it gone back to the dogs?..

Once again, I'm NOT saying that it's shaping, I'm saying that it's poor. So please don't respond with the generic "we don't shape" story.

Could you PM me a bit more info around this please?
I'd like to get this checked out further.

Sorry to Hijack this thread, we have 2 dedicated servers still at afrihost is this whole afrihost affecting dedicated hosting as well?

Our shared hosting was moved due to 67% down time on avg. We have 2 dedicated servers and a managed server still left, but since a week or so ago I started to realise a tremendous slow responsiveness from the various sites hosted on those servers.

Please confirm if we need to move or if that will be resolved.

PS. Your live support ain't live anymore.

Our ADSL, Mobile and Hosting networks are completely separate entities.
67% downtime is definitely something that would have been picked up by our team and addressed urgently. Have you been in touch with our Support team?

Oh don't even.

Please don't even. I was on your support from the very first day. I even mentioned it on mybb numerous times. I got the same copy paste response your experiencing network issues some clients might be affected your senior networking team is working on the issue. Etc etc.

My question does this current issues affect your dedicated hosting? Is there a current issue?

If you have, please FW me any relevant reference numbers that I can look at.
And no, any demand, downtime or issue on our DSL network has no affect on our Hosting network/ DC.

Hey Afriman/Guy/Girl/Genie

Please help here. Streaming is impossible tonight and getting packet loss on hops 7&8! This is on a 10Mbps line!

Tracing route to twitch.tv [192.16.71.181]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

Interesting, a few people on the Uncapped thread were posting great streaming results from the South.

Individual traceroutes will differ depending on your local network, so I'll need to see exactly which hops you are referring to in the full trace report. If you can also show packet loss with an MTR test, that will make it easy to see the extent of packet loss at each hop.

FYI, that streaming bliss stopped again at around 10:30pm and returned to normal impossible levels :)

Hi my throughput was so bad yesterday and especially to international servers I only achieved to get 30KBs if im lucky and this was both on my capped and uncapped account. Im in western cape though. Also had a friend in jhb with the same issue and his on a business product.

We'd need to look at each individually. These are seprate regional networks with different individual settings and limits. Also, the North has been upgraded for additional capacity, so we'll need to see why your friend's experience seems to be poor at the moment.

In the South we're still waiting for the upgrade to go through, so hopefully we'll see performance improve immediately afterwards.

That would have been when the network was moved back to dynamic shaping. From what I can see overall demand should have decreased so one would expect performance to improve. What time did it go back to being better?
