From our end, realtime services are the same - so not sure if a stream is is consuming data to increase latency. When I watch HD content on my line it does spike the latency, I think that's normal though.

Despite this never happening with the old management software?

See now imagine that x3 and online play becomes very difficult. Is there no way to ensure priority and/or stability for gaming?

For what you're looking for, not from our end I'm afraid. The two services are on a same priority on our network, as a realtime service. So if you need one to take priority over the other the only way to do this is via local QoS.

Most ADSL modems will have the Quality of Service option under the ADSL / WAN Settings then under the Advanced Menu, there you should see the Quality of Service options.

Hi Afriguy!!

I have upgraded from Capped 10 meg line, to Business 10 meg....................all I can say is.......AWESOME AFRI!!!!!
Speeds been firm for 3 days now. I was little sceptic, but you prove me wrong. I just hope it keeps like this.
Thank you to the team at Afri, and hope it goes on like this....Bravo

I don't know what causes this but it is extremely annoying.

On my pfSense box it constantly shows that my AH connection is dying, sometimes shows it's completely offline even if I am connected fine and can use the line. It ONLY does this on my Afrihost account and been starting this around the time when everything went belly up a few weeks ago.

It doesn't seem to affect my speed or latency though but it's huge issue at my office because we're load balancing with two lines and it won't use the AH line because it's showing that it's down. I could fix this by disabling monitoring but then I wouldn't know when the line is really down and it would break everything if it really did go down.

I see this constantly in my quality graphs, this is for the last 8 hours:

And for a few weeks:

This happens on both my home and office lines, and happens only on the AH account.

I cancelled this account now and moving to another ISP, but maybe someone should look into this as there may be something deeper at play here.

dread, agony and pain

Slow, slow slow... it's total agony to browse or try anything. What is going on? 8am saterday morning.

Rolling Blackouts - It took my Internet 15 min to resync after my power came back up.
It could be faults at telkom, maybe they are saving costs by not having proper UPS on certain Switches/Muxes.
All appears well my end now though.

I take that back, streaming is virtually nonexistent this morning.
9 out of 10 streams buffer so much they are not watchable and it is not just one site / server, I have tried several.

High latency, but only when going out of the MTN network. Speedtest to MTN Cape Town is perfect i.e. 30ms, speedtest to SAIX Cape Town is 171ms.

And Speedtest thinks I am in Maseru :)
