My line sync but the internet light does not come one. I am in Loevenstein Cape Town. Do you know if others have similar problems in the area? Happened after load shedding today.
Telkom are reporting a lot of issues around loadshedding today
Their teams are working on a fix, not sure why it's so bad today.Digilus

If it helps, I am also with afrihost and I can't authenticate (the little internet light). I've switched to another ISP and it is not working either. I see mweb *cough.spit (my ex ISP hehe)* has a notice up for a country wide outage. I can't even get to Afrihost website and using Vodacom mobile now to post this.
So yeah .. take heart, it is not just you

Sigh unable to authenticate on afrihost at the moment.
First 3 days of using the account and this is not good.
Can't really test my other ISP account because it is capped.
I see a notice on the afrihost site saying an authentication issue was resolved but it definitely is not.

Telkom have a lot of areas reported as down at the moment, seems like the hardware isn't coping with loadshedding too well today

Yeah mine is the same. Line is synced fine but if I check router logs it shows username and pass incorrect when it tries to do radius auth.

There were widespread issues on Telkom's ADSL infrastructure last night, it looks like after the latest round of loadshedding, quite a few Exchanges weren't allowing authentications through, this looked to have been especially prevalent in the Cape last night. It looks like Telkom cleared the fault this morning.
If you are still having authentication issues, please PM me your details so that I can investigate from my side.

I'm not seeing any major issues on our side, but I do know the Load shedding has been causing issues on quite a few Exchanges and has impacted local routing.
Would it be possible to post a traceroute to Afrihost.com and Google.com maybe?
