Afrihost Capped DSL Feedback

Been complaining for a long time. Months at a time. Im still awaiting for a reply from a PM.

It must be a SAIX issue or something, cause my WA Account works perfect, and they're with IS if I'm not mistaken. I could be wrong on these.

Now its all just going downhill, getting constant 240+ms during the day, when the issue only use to be at from the evening onward. Whilst in the evening I'm hitting 280+ms.

With WA account, constant 190-210ms, no matter the time of the day

Hey Reign, please drop me a PM with your account details so I can investigate this for you. It looks like this really isn't isolated. I am going to take feedback from both of your queries and ask our NOC team to look into this so we can get you back up to speed.:thumbsup:

Hey,

I am also having issues with Afrihost and blizzard servers. High pings - 270+ consistently. Found an old 1gb WebAfrica account and its 170 - 200. Had to change back to Afrihost as my Wife wants to watch Netflix - immediately back to 270ms.
 
Yea it's been awhile now that the latency spiked a bit on the Afrihost accounts to like 220+, used to be 179-190~. I normally swap over to my backup WA account, but they had issues the other day as well and had to swap back to the Afrihost one. It's not fun playing with lag. :(
 
Also having problem here in Johannesburg. High latency, web pages fail to load both local and international. Very slow.

It looks like quite a few of you are having this issue here. I am going to report this to our network team so we can investigate this. I will need some test results so I can provide them with as much info as possible. If you could ping [email protected] and then run a traceroute to bbc.co.uk and PM me your test results I will make sure we get to the bottom of this. :thumbsup:

Hey man,

Thanks for responding. I do think that the issue is more specific to Blizzard servers for some reason. I am not home to check now, but last time i checked bbc.co.uk the ping was relatively low. Blizzard servers had high ping using Afrihost account, but low ping with WebAfrica account.

Do you ever get to test during the day ? It averages above 250-280. Then night time all hell breaks lose

Downloads from mikrotik.com are awful. Getting ~200kbps on a 100Mbps line at work. Get <100kbps on 4Mbps line at home, although that's Home Uncapped. Get near 100% line speed at home with Telkom account.

Possible issue with "upstream provider" Liquid Telecom. Trace attached.
