Afrihost Capped Me

Hello,

Anyone here been capped by afrihost? I downloaded the .xls file of my data usage and it shows I have not used more than 83 megabytes this month, but on their clientzone I've lost my original 1gig package and my free 1 gig package is left standing at 720 mb

Lol I don't think this can me right, anyone else having the same problems?

any chance of previous month's usage 'leaked' into this month?

I know I have a few times now done well over the limit and then pay for it the next month with less available.
 
Got a sms from afrihost at 11am saying i was at 50% of my free gig for april..wasnt even online yesterday, so def something wrong..
 
Does Afrihost offer portlocking?

If they do you should implement it.
 
You gotta use the 10GB and the extra free 1GB first before the last 1GB gets used?

that is what is confusing him. the 1st "Try Us Free 1GB" had to have been used before it should switch to his 9GB and then to his last 1GB.

maybe it has something to do with the 1GB being a "Try Us Out"? but then again wouldn't explain why the others also have same problem.

yes that is what they say.. but I told them why is my aunt's 2gigs that she didn't use up last month not carried over also? They take away our unused data and charge us for overused data. I just put a torrent on and go to sleep. I dont intentionally try to defraud them out of any data! lol

This discrepancy is not really appreciated by myself..
 
guess one can say it is a bit "double sided".

we know it isn't a pre-paid account so our unused won't be carried over and we know how much we have for the month so we should manage our downloading accordingly.

but then again, they should rather hard cap me to force me to stop using cap which would make my next month less.

but, then again, I would probably end up yelling at them if they hard capped me and I wanted to do some browsing/gaming/downloading. :D
 
Just give them a call - I had the same problem from last month. Basically at the start of March I was capped with 2GB over so I had to wait for their 2 for 1 top up to kick in...when it came time I noticed that my over-usage no longer showed as 2GB but rather 0.00. I pushed 10GB and then another 10GB when it popped around 70% usage...then on the last day of the month I wanted to make sure I used it all up but then found that at around 1.97GB remaining my account was locked so I could pop no more (silly stack).

I e-mailed them and got a call on the 1st from a dude saying that they see it's a system error and that they have reset it...they asked me what to do with the extra bandwidth that was lost (I'm a nice guy and I said as long as my account wasn't locked and that they'd resolved the issue I didn't care - provided my free 1 GB was now available and blah blah blah). Anyway he said I should phone Telscum to have them recreate my ports and re-sync my line (which I did...I also asked them to push my line speed up to 10MB but the Telscum dude said my exchange only supports up to 6...so I said "Do it!". He did and I still only sync at 3.6 max lol).

Anyway call them or e-mail them to let them know that you've having hassles (I sent screen shots too - seems to have helped because my last e-mails to them seem to have gotten lost...kinda like Kalahari support e-mails).
