Believe it or not, on the 24/07 I migrated my Uncapped 2mb package to the 35+35 double deal and the Support Technician, 'successfully' migrated it to this package without informing me, that the special was ending.
I did contact the Support Service and was informed that with there will be Mystery bonuses as from the 06/08...if you claim you mystery bonus, that is!
:wtf:

It's really easy to claim the bonus, it's literally reading an email and clicking one button (or maybe two). There should be no reason why you shouldn't get your mystery bonus at all :)

I also checked in last week and didn't see anything on the new account package regarding a promotion so also not happy that I now have half the data that I used to have.

We had a note on the product signup age (as well as in our Newsroom and the official press release) that it was a limited offer and would be either revised or extended on the 31st of July. We have been as clear and up front about that as we could

It was always advertised as a promotional offer. We are running Mystery Bonuses soon, and there should be some other awesome surprises in store for Capped DSL clients thereafter.

Fully understand but still disappointed.Just find these mystery bonuses rather gimmicky and looking for something more sustainable and permanent at a great price!

Feel your pain.

Afriman, please tell Bra G to start sending those emails asap before this thread turns into 20 page downward spiral.

I will be out of data in 2 weeks from now :(

Not sure when the mailers will go out, but I'm sure it will be in good time for you to get the most from your extra data :)

Afriman, the eager structure of your text-based responses tells me that my perception of your organisation being a positively influential force in the local data space is about to be greatly enhanced...I await the carefully crafted words of Baba G in momentously growing anticipation :D

WTF? This is total BS. I signed up for the 35+35GB account on the understanding that it was a permanent package that was only open to purchase until the end of July. There was never any indication that the additional bandwidth would suddenly end on 31 July.

I am really annoyed about this because I have not received any emails from Afrihost about any changes to the account or mystery bonus or other such BS.

Very p*ssed off right now. Very p*ssed off.

I did get your PM about the Double Data promo, I've sent you a reply. Basically it was always intended to be a limited bonus for new and existing capped clients, similar to the Mystery Bonuses. That's why we labeled it the way we did, instead of calling it a 70GB package. It was a 35GB package, with 35GB FREE for a limited time only.

If you didn;t get a mystery bonus mailer, please send me your username and I'll see what we can do about this.

This is hogwash. As I have replied to you on my pm I demand to be put back onto my R99 for 10GB package. While you're at it you can also refund me the R200 difference for this month.

Dodgy marketing from Afrihost is not what I expect. This ranks right up there with bait and switch stuff you'd expect in Queens, NY.

I understand that you are unhappy that you understood the promotion to be different to what it was, but I think making wild accusations firstly forces us to defend ourselves, and we'd much rather help you if you'd like our assistance. Secondly, given that this is the first time anyone has accused us of being dodgy (out of THOUSANDS of capped clients who took part in the promo), I think it also deserves some perspective. The vast majority of clients who took part in this offer that I have dealt with understood that Double Data would come to an end on the 31st of July unless we said differently, so I am absolutely confident that the offer was well (and honestly) represented to the public.

So we can debate that issue and I can focus on defending the honesty and integrity of the company (and people) I work for. Or we can agree that this was an unfortunate misunderstanding, and I can happily chat to you about a reasonable compromise.

Let me know what you decide :)

Every company representative on this forum could strive to match this level of reconciliation with clients.

Count me as a very impressed and "new" client as soon as my Mweb account has been cancelled.
(Already have a few capped accounts with Afrihost, but moving the whole catoot over asap)

Ok so now that we got the mystery bonuses for August, what happens in September? Normal cap? If so, should we cancel before the 25th?

I refer you to my initial inquiry posted here on myBB when this "promotion" broke:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/521573-Afrihost-ADSL-capped-prices-slashed-up-to-50/page2

Please note entry number 25. There was nothing in that thread that indicated (to me at least) that the double data would end at the end of July. I specifically asked the question because the special offers we have had from Afrihost in the past have not expired (R99 for 10 gigs being a prime example). It was not unreasonable to assume that the same would be true for people signing up for this promo before it expired at the end of July.

I made the change based on that thread and your input to it. It resulted in me making quite a considerable change to my internet and other media packages that I have from other suppliers (think TV here) and yet now you turn around and tell me I am deluded. Don't expect then that this doesn't leave me with a bad taste in my mouth as I now have to go to and undo a whole bunch pf things based on this deception.

I remain annoyed and your intentions remain conspicuous.

I also urge you to carefully examine the language used in the article that led to that thread I have linked to:

http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/75611-afrihost-adsl-capped-prices-slashed.html

Everything in that article indicates to me that "prices slashed" is construed as a permanent change. You are quoted as saying that "the offer will run until the end of July 2013", not that the packages will terminate at the end of July.

If you are as honourable a company as you claim to be then you will stand by this "offer" and continue to provide us with the packages you sold us at that price.

And also it is not a "wild accusation" in the slightest. Being able to distinguish between a limited offer and a once off special that expires should not become an exercise in semantics. This really, really has left me asking a big question about Afrihost's misuse of PR here on myBroadband.
