Afrihost halves mobile data prices

This is awesome, but I also had to lower mine down to 1 gig instead of 3 because the quality was so poor and I couldn't actually download that much. :(

Ah no :( Does your area have sufficient coverage?

Sorry if we caused any confusion :( Which title are you referring to?

I think he's referring to the one where it says Afrihost halves mobile data prices, and the 3 + 7 changed to a 3 + 4, so it actually when down, not up. But technically speaking, it is still "half" the cost of getting 7GB, so thus technically not misleading.

It seems I correctly predicted that the Mobile3 would come down to 7gigs from December - trying to find where I posted the prediction

Afriman do I get a cookie?

-- the good news is that my prediction built in the idea that it would be viable to continue at 7 gigs on the 10 product until March 2014 and that they could by March keep data at R29 a gig if the uptake didn't drop off.

So far so good. No problems or complaints since using Afrihost's mobile offerings. Just hope the quality and speed of the connection does not drop in the future. Still using it with the Mifi device. Anyone know of any good LTE device/modem to use with this baby?

Too bad their coverage sucks. Had to cancel mine.

Were you using the Mifi by any chance? Try sticking the sim into a phone whenever you decide to take up another bundle - it works much better!

You definitely do not want a security barrier that nobody can see. If they think the opening is unprotected they will go for it and if they are in your premises and at the door with a crew bar the mesh will be like soft butter to these guys. If they see real burglar bars from the street they will rather go for the next house with no security in front of the openings.

Uhh...

High fives?
:p

Yes using the mifi.

My mifi definitely has inferior signal when indoors. Outdoors it works just fine but in places where my phone gets full 3G - my mifi would only get 2 bars of 2G.

Such a pity, we have the device, work and live both in Bellville central and the signal is either shocking or non-existant.

If im not mistaken, the mifi has a port for an external antenna. Wait - ill post a pic now now

Yes it does. But you need to drill a hole in the cover, since the cover is closed there.
You can get the antenna on bidOrBuy for R150-odd.

Guys, to get the full experience you really need to get a decent router like the Huawei B660 or B683. Where I live the mifi device could only get Edge reception, even when forcing it on to 3G. But with a powerful 3G router like the Huawei B660 I was able to get 3G no problem. No offence to Afrihost, but the Mifi devices have useless internal antennas.
