Afrihost halves mobile data prices

Meh, Might just as well cancel my Mobile 3 and get my 3rd 60+60GB deal from Telkom Mobile. Works like a charm in my Netgear 3G Router, unlike my current Mobile 3 Sim. :(

Hey, at least I'm still better off with my Mobile 3 package for R197 than I would have been had I stayed on the Mobile 2 for R145.

Anyone else find this headline slightly misleading? They've only halved the prices on 1GB and below. 2+3GB and above remain unchanged, and in the case of 3+7GB they've deducted 3GB...

Sorry if this comes across as a bit confusing :(
The 2+3GB and 3+7GB where special packages - they were always subject to change. The rest of our Mobile offering has seen a huge price drop - with the additional of our newer, more awesomererer ones :D

I also thought the packages - according to advertising material, was good until February 2014, and would be revised/extended after that date

Still not a bad deal..

TL DR are these contracts? what happens after feb 2014? back to eg 500mb for R29?

the 2+3 is up for revision in February 2014 the 3+7 is up for revision in November 2013 - which is now
and it has been slightly revised

The 3+7GB was planned and announced to be revised at the end of this month :(

I'll gladly take a few of those :D
do they come with 5 gigs of data for a charitable organization ;) :p

Hhhmm, you drive a hard bargain.
Can't we rename AfriDog in honour of you? AfriPaulDog or something? Too much? :D

Will my unused Mobile Data rollover to the following month?
No, like our DSL bandwidth, unused data will expire at midnight on the last day of the month, and new data will be allocated on the 1st of the new month.

Please note that Mobile Data Topups will also expire at midnight on the last day of the current month.

Compare that to:

http://www.telkommobile.co.za/plans/prepaid-data/60gbpromo/

The bundle is valid for 12 months from the date of activation.
25. Standard once-off internet bundles will expire at the end of the next calendar month from the date of activation.

Until Afrihost revise the expiration policy on their high-end data bundles, I don't see why anyone would pay for them...

TL;DR: Telkom Mobile is cheaper (Do your patches at night), the purchased bundles last 12 times longer, and the top-ups last (up to) 30 times longer.

Guys, to get the full experience you really need to get a decent router like the Huawei B660 or B683. Where I live the mifi device could only get Edge reception, even when forcing it on to 3G. But with a powerful 3G router like the Huawei B660 I was able to get 3G no problem. No offence to Afrihost, but the Mifi devices have useless internal antennas.

Agreed as I have own 2x mifi's and a B660. Only issue with the B660 is that it rarely hits more than 4.5mbit/s whereas I have smashed 10+ on the mifi's...

Disappointed about the mobile 3 drop - but I will remin a client as it is JUST sufficient for my monthly needs at home and way cheaper than telkom line +adsl rental +cap....

and you can get 5gb data with s3 mini for R169 a month , and the 5gb rolls over for 1 month!

So the Mobile Three loses data? Damn, looks like I'll be cancelling shortly...

Why? Besides TM, there isn't anything else that comes close?

Edit: Saw you comparing to Cell C Giga packages and must obviously have good Cell C signal. Fair enough.
