Hi everyone,

I'm only looking for some advice here. Our company is rather small, and so we don't have a full IT team on board (Only 2 people). Our current ISP is also hosting our domain and emails. However, it's not a big company either and for that reason, I think they are really screwing us over with the monthly bill, and they are working through Afrihost as a reseller I think.

Now the thing is, we want to see if we can move to Afrihost and manage everything ourselves. We already figured out that it is going to be cheaper. We'll request to move the domain over to our Afrihost account. From there, we can then manage everything ourselves through the Cpanel.

My question is, do we really need to hire someone else to manage this for us within our company? Or is it simple enough that we can manage the domain (Email accounts, spam filters, etc) ourselves?

Let me know if you need more information on the situation.

Regards,

Hi

It's not that hard to manage hosting yourself especially on cPanel hosting. You will be able to do so quite easily. Just have patience to learn it and you could possible know what all the features do within a day.

Spam Filter is not really something you need to know as Afrihost would manage that mostly.

You'll just need to create your accounts. Afrihost may also just be able to transfer your whole account as it is with the current reseller over to the new account you have with them. Then it is a duplicate as how it was. Managing your own hosting is far easier with the new versions of cPanel and other panels if you choosing shared hosting.

Hope you come right.

Hi Hostking,

Thanks for the reply. Seems like the answer I was looking for. We just want to avoid digging a hole for ourselves in this situation.
We looked at the Bronze Pro Linux hosting package, that should work for us. We want it for the site builder, it seems easy enough to get our site up and maintain it through that option.

Is there anything we should watch out for in this option and the managing side of things?

Regards,

Hey

If the host that you currently use are happy to give the hosting package to you, this can be managed in CLientZone by using the Give/Gain domain feature. This will transfer all hosting, domain ownership and billing over from one clientzone profile to another.

We look after all the technical hardware concerns, and things like mail accounts and spam filters are really easy to manage via cPanel. The only thing left to you is your site design. Even there, we have some tools like CM4All that can help, unless you've already designed an existing site.

Drop me a PM if you need more info or assistance to get this going :)
