Afrihost is ***

IF you look at the last few pages in any of the Afrihost threads, you will see they have been having non stop issues. It is kinda reaching a boiling point, and people are just getting fed up.

So yes, maybe he should have posted a thread with traces and everything, but there is enough people having issues that this is not limited to some user's telkom connection.
So therefore they are ***?

I see. You too, eh.

Yamaha make really *** bikes. I took my VMax for a spin the other day. It's 1200 engine should easily push to 240, but I couldn't get above 110.

Yeah, I even said that Afrihost is the new OpenWeb as they are just buying time spinning their stories.

They have not responded to my tickets where my 20MB Business Account is running at a 1/10th of it's speed, yet swopping over to WA or CW I get line speed immediately on the same port/program. I have provided them with traces, tickets and all the info requested but nothing was ever done.

So while your line might be working fine, many other people aren't.

That's your experience. Sorry to hear it. Either they fix it quick or you should walk away and use another. I would. You have provided evidence that it's not your line or connection. The OP hasn't.

But based on the evidence provided by the OP it's premature to conclude that his problem has the same root.

I'm sick of threads with gratuitous insults based on zero evidence. I don't care who the ISP is, and i don't hold a candle for any. That's the nub of my objection.

I can say the same about your first reply which only had this - "Bit of a wild accusation. My Afrihost account works fine."

The OP posted a speed test, and said he couldn't watch on his Apple TV. That is way more than you did, so kinda post all the traces and other stuff to show us just how great your connection is.

Now you're getting silly.

Afrihost is pretty much on par and this is in the South

Yea, Whatever floats your boat mate.

I didn't state that it was due to shaping.

It is due to the contentions on their network rising because they do not have enough IPConnect Capacity and keep messing around with the routing and shapers to keep the network load down instead of spending money and upgrading their IPConnect capacity hence causing the speed issues mentioned by the OP and hence everyone else's speed issues on their threads.
They've been doing that for years.

Wow. So calling someone out for slinging poo at a named ISP without the slightest evidence that the problem is at the ISP makes me a shill??

You obviously don't know what a shill is, so I won't take offence, though it clearly is intended.

After the school hols, ask your teacher what that big word means.

When you know, I challenge you to find just one vague reference where I've ever recommended Afrihost or any ISP for that matter.

If the OP was halfway grownup he'd be asking on this forum for technical advice and trying to get to the bottom of his issues. That's part of what MyBB is about. But no, he comes straight out calling a particular ISP ***, and gives no supporting evidence whatsoever. That is juvenile, rude, and tedious. Apart from the insult to the ISP in question, it's also offensive to anyone who's halfway serious about resolving performance issues.

Feel free to familiarize yourself with one page of the BUSINESS UNCAPPED afrihost thread, In fact go and read all of the pages for the past 2 months.

If you read the last few pages of that thread, you will see that I am one of the disgruntled Afrihost clients who has recently been posting there. And yet I am in full agreement with Arthur regarding the OP's untested conclusions. There is no contradiction in that; applying some very basic logic should make that clear. We're helping nobody, least of all ourselves, with muddled thinking.

Bit of a wild accusation. My Afrihost account works fine.

If I were you I'd first check out other possible issues before going onto a public forum and slinging derogatory accusations.

I've heard about you, so it's true :p

Anyways OP should test other ISPs though i know Afrihost pings are

What gives you the right to be rude and offensive? For your information it was the Isp fault which they corrected, I have right to complain as I'm paying for a service.

If you don't like what I had to say find another thread to comment on instead of ranting like an ass.

Well all my clients that I revered to AH, jumped the ship. One to MWEB, the other will be installing Fiber.
The AH experience was great for the fist day I had an account with them. Then got shaped on my 2mb line.
Moved the account over to an business account as my wife works from home and shaping took place on some of the protocols she was using.
I have a server running off site that uses P2P to do updates and transfers.
And in the past two weeks things with AH went down the loo.
They blamed everything from my line to the exchange, you name it. And this weekend my line died. So not sure if AH decided my bitching was more than they can handle or if the Telkom monkeys outside the estate, cut burnt the lines.

But seeing that all my clients jumped the ship, the question should maybe be, if there is smoke, when will the fire show. And I have to agree with the OP, but I can't see how AH get ISP of the year, unless the other ISP's are giving very bad and useless service.

Please post this on the AH thread. Its good feeback for them, and will no doubt help remaining AH customers and prospective customers.

IMHO - I think its good to look at the overall experience - service, product, value added services and price.
AT the time that I joined, AH represented great value for money, and I think they still do. HAving said that, the past year has been a bit ''faulty'' but I am hoping it all comes right.

At this moment in time, I am not too impressed either for what its worth.
