Yup, they dug up the whole street and accidently cut a power cable the other day. But the problem I have is I'm in a complex with lots of old people. Question is will the install fibre just for me.. It's the complex just after the church

I was almost your neighbour. Narrowly lost out on the property corner edge road and edge place, with the big "xmas tree" in the yard. Couldn't sell Gonubie in time.
The fibre which was going down was a massive drawcard at the time.

Anyhow back to the topic. I do get good LTE vodacom and Telkom here, maybe someday it will Rain here and I will consider it as I don't really use excessive data each month.

This is probably a requirement from Rain themselves in terms of limiting the type of device that is connecting to their network...

The launch promotion is packaged as is by Rain. I am sure that in future a sim-only solution will be made available.

Oh wow, that's interesting. Was it a Telkom LTE-A sim card that he tested with or a standard Telkom sim?

This is a launch promotion that is being run, I am sure that there will be additional options made available in the future.
So... customers will be able to pay less to get the Rain fixed LTE-A after the promotion? That seems a bit, I don't know, counter-intuitive.
Telkom just does 1 type of sim I believe. And it was the Rain sim inside the Telkom supplied b315 Router. So seems like as soon as you get your package sell your fancy LTE-A router and buy a B315 and external antenna from the money and you will get faster speeds.

I have been using Afrihost RAIN Fixed LTE now for 6 months and it started of great getting good speeds all times of the day. But the problem comes in from about 5 PM in the afternoon when i struggle to get a 1mb connection from the network cannot stream any movies cannot download any thing cannot even get any Whatsupp messages. I have phone afrihost and advised them about this issue more than once and they advised me that it might be congestion on the network, which i agree. But i am paying monthly my subscription and cannot use this service when i need to. If nothing is going to be done about this i am going to cancel my subscription

Its a requirement from RAIN, their LTE-A SIm only works on these routers.
R10/GB from Cell C. Not much worse seeing you have a whole year to use the 200GB so why would I subscribe to something I have to artificially use my whole cap or pay more? Actually I'll be paying more in general. And those top-ups are just meh. As stated many times Rain should go back to the drawing board and come up with competitive packages, entry level packages and a better business model. Take this as constructive criticism.
+1Neotel have been doing a fixed LTE product that is essentially uncapped (Very easy to understand FUP) at a fixed bit rate for years. I had a 4mbps fixed LTE with them which has now run its course but performed really well.
I think customers prefer this approach rather than having to constantly check usage to ensure they're okay for the rest of the month and then having to top up. And quite honestly no one cares if they're temporarily getting a 30mbps burst because the network is relatively underutilized - until it's not and gets overly congested.
You do realize that some AAA title games these days are in excess of 50gig download? And watching Netflix on HD is in excess of 1gig an hour?
Not sure why the above approach isn't possible, technically speaking, with other similar LTE products. Maybe there is a reason?
I'm tired of this nonsensical business model while the rest of the world is moving away from usage based.
