Hey all!

So I bought a new Mifi device from Afrihost which was delivered today.
I did not take any contract with them and bought the device outright.

But how do I set this thing up now? How do I get a data bundle on this thing?

Thanks for the help!

Insert the sim card and off you go. The default SSID and pwd should be on the inside of the back cover iirc.

OK. So no need to register or anything like that? I just load a data bundle on there say through my banking and I'm ready to surf?

What about RICA?

Clearly the OP bought the MiFi device only without ordering the mobile SIM CARD cause if the driver did come deliver the MiFI with Mobile SIM CARD, courier would have asked for a copy of his ID & proof of address.

OP please purchase a Mobile Data SIM Card http://www.afrihost.com/site/product/mobile_data

This is available on month to month, you can cancel at any time you like. Just do it before the 25th, that way you won't be billed for the next month.

Yeah just bought the device from Afrihost. No contract or package.

Then you need to get a prepaid SIM, load airtime (and data bundles) on it, pop it into the MIFI device, and away you go.

You can use a contract SIM, but beware of the OOB shark - it is very easy to go OOB!

Pity you didn't order a SIM from Afrihost as well, RICA etc would've been done for you.

I had to help my friend out. He also was about to buy the MiFi device as a standalone then I told him he needs to order the Mobile Data card as well in order to get internet.

OP - please scroll down to the bottom of the page! I see where he might of gone wrong

:D

They can be forgiven for making silly mistakes like these.

At least the SIM doesn't cost an arm and leg...

I can see where the OP is coming from! If you don't take the time to read the page, scroll down on the overview page - then the prices & packages show. .

Back in the day a SIM CARD would cost you R149 - R200, sim card replacement R250 - 350, AMAZING how times have changed :) Cheaper now

Thanks all.

Yeah it did not come with a simcard. Thought it would even if it was just a prepaid one.
Not a problem though. Will only be using the device when going away for weekends and holidays so will just use a simcard for short periods at a time.
