Afrihost Mobile Data

Hi all,

So I am not sure where to ask this, I think this section is correct since Afrihost use MTN for mobile data.

I signed up for some mobile data and it is PATHETIC!! I have better 3G signal with MTN than I do with 8ta yet my 8ta connection outperforms my MTN by far!

Are there any current issues on the network? Does this sound about right?

The MTN data is much cheaper, however I have had to topup on 8ta since I struggle to browse on MTN despite the stronger reception.
I have double checked that the MTN is getting 3G signal and it most certainly is, even my ping is higher on MTN.

Just trying to get some answers, appreciate any help and feedback.

What if you use the MTN APN? Is it better than the AH APN?

Also, AH have their own section under the Mobile data where you could also ask this - http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/forumdisplay.php/263-Afrihost-Mobile

I have not tried that, what is the MTN APN? Just Internet or mymtn?

Where in JHB North are you? The afrihost APN is afrihost, and MTN is myMTN

Doesn't work, although speed and latency seems to be a bit better now. So fingers crossed it stays this way
