Are you based in the Free State? I have been informed that there are some MTN coverage issues around the Free State at this time.
No Wc and the sim works perfectly in an old Nokia phone just not in a smartphone so perhaps not a normal network issue, I'm hoping that for some reason a batch of Mtn sims went dud or were blocked for some reason.

I'm now on the other side of Somerset West, so different cell tower. Still no cellular connection whatsoever.

I've switched airplane mode on and off, also changed phone to connect with only 2G. Still no connection.

In my notification area, I now see "Restricted access changed: Voice service is blocked."

My details are in ticket XHJ-492-28420

This must be something on the MTN side. Is there anything you can do about this? I can't call or be called at the moment.

I'll escalate your ticket with our Mobile Development Team to see what can be done. :)

Sounds like your issue might be LTE related... Are you active on the new SIM yet?

My phone also can't find a network. I've rebooted numerous times without success. What info would you need to assist?

If you're new SIM is online, the provisioning should have completed. Are you able to use it?
It's a brand new sim after I did a sim swop this afternoon and the new sim hasn't been provisioned but it's working with the Afrihost apn?

I've still got no service after going to a different area. I tried restarting the phone multiple times and cycling aeroplane mode but alas nothing. It's currently busy charging, so will try some more when it's done. I contacted Afrihost via the client area when it first started and haven't gotten a reply there yet. It looks like the forum is the way to go.

Provisioning a SIM swap can take up to 48 hours sometimes, I'm sure it'll be sorted soon :)

A question, can a Afrihost mobile data package be paused, just like I can pause my ADSL package for a month or 2?

Dude! Did you read my reply?
I have not provisioned the new sim swop (same number) but it's still working on the Afrihost apn, how is that?

A SIM swap will re-provision and de-provision - this process takes times - I've seen old SIMs still function a few days after a SIM swap.
From your initial post it wasn't clear on where you were using the APN, so on a new SIM that isn't provisioned, you're able to use our APN?

I am also back online this morning.

I would still like to know how and why exactly we lost service for so long, and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. (not being able to receive calls from my armed response company, and not being able to do banking is quite serious)

Fully understand the implications around this, drop me a PM with your number and I'll see if there's anything reflected on the logs.
