Please advise what happen with promotional data (buy any amount and get same amount for free)? I used to see it on top up menu, did the promotion end?

Morning Zukat,
Afrihost generally run these type of promotions later in the Month, or depending on their marketing teams - so that option will not be available currently - hope this answers your question.

Whew getting a bit frustrated with this. I can confirm now that I only get packet loss on LTE. Using UMTS I don't get any packet loss but pings fluctuate a lot. Anything from 400ms to 2400ms to international sites.

Vodacom and 8ta works perfectly. It's frustrating because I bumped up the data to the 10GB + 10GB for December.

Just an update, Afrihost online support said there is a problem with all the mobile accounts, the packet data is not being sent as it should which is causing the "capped" error. Their technicians are working on it. In the meantime you can enjoy some dry humour in my response to the support staff ;-)

Just want to confirm, this should be all sorted :)

We run the two for one top-ups randomly throughout the month, so keep checking back :)

Sorry to hear this :(
Bit weird that LTE would be affected, yet the rest seem to work - odd indeed! What's your coverage looking like in the area you're testing from?

Coverage is great. The connection was also great until about the 1st of December. I don't know why but it's only on LTE that I get packet loss. And here's the weirdest thing, it's only to international sites. It looks like all locally hosted sites are fine. In fact it looks like as soon as a packet go over about 600ms or so to reply then it times out.

Can't even dial-up when capped?

My account was capped a couple of days ago and I started getting the "capped" website. In the meantime, the modem disconnected and now when I try and dial up it says my connection has been terminated by the remote computer. I'm using a Hauwei E3111 USB modem on a notebook with the SIM in it.

According to tech-support this is normal and I should to a topup before I can dial-up again. Which sucks a bit as one can't even reach Afrihost's site to do a topup?

I have other forms of internet too, so it isn't a problem, but I just wanted to confirm if this behaviour is normal (it seems fishy to me).

This is really odd indeed, have you brought it up with our Support team at all?

Sorry to hear this :( I'm afraid you won't be able to top-up once your cap has been reached. Do you have data notifications setup in your ClientZone?

Hi All

I'm trying to help out a friend whom I recently convinced to purchase the Afrihost Mobile Data.
The problem is he has a Vodacom USB dongle and it wont connect to Afrihost/MTN.
I've tried using the normal Windows connection software, and changed the APN to "Afrihost", but no luck.

Any Advice?

Nope but will set up something. It's ok, as long as nothing is wrong with my account / line / number then it's fine - just thought it a bit weird that the modem itself wouldn't connect. First time I've encountered something of the sort (used to just being redirected to a "capped" page but the lower level network remains connected).

Which dongle? Probably because he's using the rebranded Vodafone software.

Its a ZTE vodacom dongle.
I thought the software may cause problems - hence I used the standard windows connection software.
I've been looking to try find the ZTE software but dont seem to be able to find it.

Adding a dial number helps sometimes, what's yours set to at the moment?
