Have you tested the signal outdoors? Outdoor signal for 3G will always be better outside, but it will definitely depend on your area coverage and the demand from the local populace (who subscribe to MTN that is).

I have tested it outside, its not much better. I cant really leave it there while I work tho.

Remember that APN access from an MTN SIM will only be available on separate signup on launch day (tomorrow). However, devices like our MiFi are already using our APN to access data (with data provisioned to the specific SIM number). You'll see that the APN on your MiFi is automatically set to Afrihost :)

OK ... but I will be using my Vodacom mifi and my housemate will be using a spare Cell C Mifi ... so we will need to set the APN manually on these devices I think since it was not supplied by you guys with your firmware on it.

When I received my device at work yesterday I tested it out and it was running great but when I got home I could hardly get 3G signal. I realised that when I was testing it out at work I had it plugged into my laptop to charge but at home I was using it on battery. I tested the device again at work this morning both unplugged and also plugged into my laptop while it was in the exact same position and found that the signal when plugged in improved.

When unplugged the devices connection bars were yellow and as soon as I plugged it in they went to green. I find that you have to play around with where the device is and which direction it faces - small changes in direction seem to make a big difference.

I still need to test out my plugged in theory when I get home but thought perhaps it may help some guys struggling with signal.

I would have expected way better than that in the CBD.

Ja, but this is way down between the buildings, even our Vodacom signal is kark.
In fact this is probably slightly better than our Vodacom signal.
And this is using an aerial booster.
When I get chance I will go up onto the roof in direct line of the MTN tower and do another speed test. ;)

@AfriDucks :D

If I get an 10G tomorrow will I be able to transfer data to and fro from the 10G to Mifi 5G contract or is it best just to change sim? Really do not need 2*MiFi.

Guys ... I am having trouble finding where you can track your order. Last night when I logged in it said on the landing page "order pending" but now I cant seem to get back to that screen. How do you guys do it? :-(

The blue button...new cilentzone, under Connectivity. :D

What does signing up for LTE entail? I though the device was LTE ready

No one ever said that the given mifi is LTE capable. They will have one for sale soon though.

It knows you are a Vodacom rep. ;) :D

Not fair to compare 3G to LTE :(

Our LTE service will be available for signup tomorrow, then at least we can be in the race ;)

I have ordered your Mobile 3 Sim only.

Will this Sim be LTE activated?

Great coverage everywhere including the farm in karkloof except my street :p

If I put it on the piano in the lounge, I get good speeds, but 1 bar coverage.

if I put it in the sleeping room, no coverage...

If I put it where it gets a good signal, I don't get a wifi signal in my bedroom... So piano it'll have to be then...

No reported issues, perhaps try move the device around or turn it on/ off?

Please respond to above. My daughter ordered the Mobile3 with additional sim as she was scared to use her existing MTN sim for fear of OOB shark issues. Good or bad?

Will she be able to transfer data capacity from her mobile3 sim to her MTN and Mobile2 sims. ???

Please advised best options with least hassles.

Hi AfriMan,

When this issue was discussed last week in another thread, you confirmed that we would in fact be able to reassign our existing data (eg. the 5GB data that our Mifi devices use) to another MTN number. Is that still going to be the case, or has something changed?

Here's a link to the discussion I'm referring to:
