Got mine today but it's not working.

I'll be using the sim in a D-Link 3G router. For testing purpose I'm using my old nokia E72. I can send and receive SMS messages. I did change the APN to afrihost. Whenever I try to connect to internet, it just say "connection not available". Does Afrihost still need to activate the data maybe or should it work?

I dont want to start complaining right away as I can see that the majority of users are happy. Can anybody shed some light on this, please!!

Just replied to your post in the Delivery thread :)

I also got mine today, well it's not working either. I've tested using 4 different devices and when I call Afrihost they say they are seeing a trend of sim cards that are not working. Maybe the MTN provisioning team couldn't get petrol to go to work. :(

Mine is also not working (Afriman was looking into it for me). I'm partially glad that it's not just me.
Hopefully it wont require me to wait for a new SIM card.

For those folks that have SIM cards not working; did you receive any welcom SMSs from MTN / RICA?
I got one spam sms the moment I put the SIM into the router (lol :wtf:) but nothing else.

Could this be the same reason delivery was delayed? Afrihost did confirm they had a problem with a batch of sims.

I signed up last week Wednesday, so I would say the delivery was fast. when you say problem, does it mean we have to return the SIM or they can just re-provision the ones we have?

Would be better if the Afri guys can give us an answer.

+1 on the sim not working. I got mine today, and have not received any rica sms. I've tried a huawei e1750 and a e323. It seems I'm not alone in this.

Having network issues, no throughput on my provisioned simcard at random times. Both with Edge, 3G etc

I never received an RICA SMS.
Courier delivered, took paperwork & I was online!
Quick & hassle free, except what seemed like a looong wait for that package to arrive ;)

I'm not aware of a trend of bad SIMs. To my knowledge we've had very few proven SIM or device failures. Most have been solved with a device reset or have been due to improper use, and we've sent a lot of the devices back. To date, I'm only aware of a small handful of queries (still to be established). Out of over 10,000 SIMs issues - I'd hardly say it was a trend :(

However, one bad SIM is still one too many! Drop me a PM and let's get our people onto this :(

We held of on shipping on a new batch of SIMS to ensure that they were correctly provisioned. Once we were sure that we had the right stock, we started packing and shipping again. There should be no issues on the client's side - we were being cautious :)
