The Afrihost MiFi 2 + 3 deal sounds too good to be true .......and unfortunately the old cliché rings true. :(

Mostly the signal is too bad to use and even if in a area where you would expect good signal the performance is extremely variable.

We definitely don't sell a degraded product to bring the price down. Our data runs on the entire MTN data network as it's available, we shouldn't see different performance to any regular MTN data service.

However, performance is going to be affected by signal and demand in your area. There is an MTN coverage enquiry process for the MTN to test the available signal in your area.

The Afrihost deal is great but they will never reach scale unless they introduce a mehod to reactivate an existing device sim or link to a MTN prepaid sim.

Most of the users on this forum are DSL users and we got our free MiFi devices and don't need the data every month so we had to cancel in the first month.
Stupid thing though is that if you are going on holiday and want the mobile data you need get a brand new sim and can't use your existing device sim. You have to wait 5 days for a random delivery froma ****ty delivery company which just isn't practical.

As someone mentioned, it's much better to make use of the pause service, rather than cancelling the SIM. We don've have the means to reactivate a SIM once it's been "dead' for more than a certain period. I believe this would be the same for MTN on their systems.

Remember though, that delivery and SIMS are free, so we carry that cost for your convenience.

Afrihost, can you please supply us with an ETA when more stock of LTE devices will be available.

From my last update, the device we were offering has been discontinued, so we will most likely be offering a new range of devices, but we're doing our homework on what we can offer and which devices will suit our purposes (and price point) best.

When I get further confirmation, I'll update you guys with what I know.

Cool - if you need a free tester, you know :p...

Thank you for the update.

All quiet in this thread. Nothing to report? :)

I'm looking forward to the Zest phone announcement. Hypothetically of course, if such an announcement were made, would existing customers get first dibs?

Our clients always get the cream of our offers. You'll definitely be first in line and know things before everyone else :)

Just a heads up for you guys. As I understand it, Mobile shouldn't really be affected, but just so you know what's happening.

That sounds open to the public, not existing customers first?

Clients get first dibs on the 18th. Offer is open to the general public from the 19th onwards. If you refer a friend (as a client) then they can get in on the early access too :)

Update on scheduled maintenance on the network. It's been moved to 17h00. Just to reiterate that we don't expect Mobile Clients to be affected much :)
