Dammm tried everything last night to connect my 1GB sim with Zest and failed. Called in as well and was told no issues on the network. Tried setting etc, reboot etc. and no luck. Why don't we at least get an email, SMS or notification on your web site that there are authentication issues. :mad:

That sucks. We had a notice on the website so the guys should have known about the auth problems :(

Received the phone and inserted the LTE sim in slot 2. Slot 1 empty for the time being as the Zest is for my wife. Created an Afrihost APN and selected it. Mobile data is also on under the Data usage setting, but I am unable to create a data cession and no errors that I can see. Am I missing something :confused: or must I insert a sim in slot 1?

Is the Zest T1 LTE enabled?

The Zest is only 3G (HSPA+) but your SIM should still give you 3G where LTE is not available. Drop me a PM, I'd like to check if the number is authenticating on our side :(

If you swipe down from the top of the screen does it not say INVALID IMEI at the bottom of the status? That's what happened with mine.. have to wait for them to give me a new phone

The phone does not support LTE afaik

I don't think it's the same issue. If you can set the APN, then you would have already accepted the SIM, as I understand it.

I could set the APN on my broken one.. was able to do everything except get signal because of the "invalid imei"

Says MTN-SA and get a 3G signal indicator.

Hmm, sounds a bit strange, but remember you could be getting 3G off your other SIM as well. Make sure the data setting is to use the correct SIM.

As mentioned, the Sim 1 slot is empty for the time being. Will be inserting a Vodacom sim when I get home.

@AfriMan

Is it possible to transfer my 1GB Promo data to my existing contract sim? It'd be far more productive on my primary sim card in my LTE device..

Not really, the SIM is a promo SIM. But remember that you can set your data to either SIM and change at any time. I;d say use up your free data first and then switch when it's capped.

Ok bit of a pain in the ass, anyway..

Can you nudge your support team, I emailed about my broken Zest yesterday to organise collection and have had no response - [#XVT-102-76640]

Ok, did a factory reset when I came home & inserted a Vodacom sim in slot 1 ==> works & able to receive & make calls.

There are 4 Access Point Names for the MTN sim:
MTN SA Web ==> internet
MTN GPRS ==> myMTN
MTN GPRS ==> Afrihost --> selected
MTN MMS ==> myMTN

SIM status for the MTN-SA sim is as follows:
Signal strength -73dBm 20 asu
Mobile network type - GPRS
Service Status - In service
Roaming - Not roaming
Mobile network state - Disconected
My phone number - {empty}

SIM management
Vodacom-SA ==> Voice, Video call & Messaging
MTN-SA ==> Data connection

Pulldown notification shows VODACOM-SA | MTN-SA

Anything else I can check? Still not able to establish a data connection. :(

Could this be the reason that my data isn't active?

I think we're getting a lot of delivery queries due to the amount of orders that went out after the launch.

Drop me a PM and I'll try and get that sorted out for you :(

Will be patient, no worries.

Again I cannot connect tonight ?? East London and a mate of mine in PE.

Can confirm here in CT too, tried to connect just says "Connecting..."

Evening guys

We are receiving reports of client unable to authenticate new sessions on our broadband network, including DSL and Mobile Data. Our network engineers are currently investigating with MTN to determine the cause of this. Some clients may be unable to connect to the internet due to this problem. Client who are already connected should remain connected, and we encourage not to reboot their routers until the problem has been resolved. We sincerely apologise to affected clients for the inconvenience.

Really sorry about the downtime :(
