Does anyone else have problems connecting to Afrihost with the new Galaxy S6 phones. I received one of those new nano sims with the new phone that is LTE enabled. I have entered the APN correctly and asked them to change my SIM to a LTE one but it still wont connect to any internet connection, it works perfectly if I use the MTN APN.

Any ideas?

Did you phone Afrihost and ask them to re-provision the service?

That is what I had to do and it works without issue.

Maybe a weird one but has anyone had the issue when they are at home with adsl via afrihost and a sim via afrihost and when connecting to the wifi, it kills the wifi connection link for data?

Hard to explain but basically if my phone is on afrihost apn and I connected to my home wifi, it says data not available or limited. Yet disabling the data portion on mobile connection, still slowing voice and wifi, it works fine. Almost seems like a ip conflict between the sim ip and the ip given to my router.

Hi!

If you completed a sim swop on your MTN Contract Sim Card, we will need to re-provision your sim card for you. Can you please send me a PM with your Afrihost ClientZone username or the number of your MTN Contract sim card. And I'll get it done ASAP for you.

That is definitely a strange one, on which device is this happening?

On both my wifes Sony and my passport. At work now and it switched fine ie: enter wifi zone and picks up fine. It could be related to load shedding and my exchange or Tower near home maybe as this only occurred with the Stage 1 loadshedding yesterday ( even though we were not directly loadshed, the area suffered brownouts when other areas were switched).

I turned cell data off for the night and only restored again once I hit the road this morning, will see what it does when I re-connect at home.

Thanks, please let us know if this happens again, we'll need to do some troubleshooting with you to figure out what the issue is.

I spoke to your call centre and they are doing it for me.

I will contact you if I don't come right.

Thanks

There is something seriously wrong with my connection, ping is through the roof... something wrong? Was fine before 21;30

Sorry to hear that. Can you show me what you were seeing?

well download was about 7mbps and uppload about 1mbps ping was between 300-400. After 11 it became stable again. I asked everyone ingame and majority said they were experiencing the same. will check tonight if it happens again and post a speed test.

It's possible that there was some sort of load balancing or something like that. Also depends what sort of 3G you were getting, which usually affects ping greatly, where LTE seems to be a lot more stable.

Please keep an eye on it, so we can investigate if it persists :(
