Connections gone for crap again, worked fine for three years and now since last week I have stretches of 80% packet loss just on afrihost apn, I dont care what anyone says I have done hours of testing with vanilla MTN internet APN and Afrihost APN.

Sounds like there are some coverage issues in the area though - are the issues replicated in a different area/ suburb?
 
You keep on saying coverage is an issue but like I said the internet APN with MTN data bundle doesn't have the same problem.

I have filled out the coverage thingie the guy sent me and forwarded my gps coordinates to MTN and now they have sent me a number to call

Another thing I noticed my data usage goes up a lot during these packet loss stretches.

Have you tested in another area though? This should give you some pretty valuable feedback and a good comparison.
 
Just got off the line with MTN and the guy said the number shows 0 and said it must be afrihost problem and put me through to one of your support staff.

I really don't know whats going on? What does he mean by zero?

That's weird, gotta be honest I also cant understand what he could be referring to here :(
 
I guess he means zero balance ?

How should I proceed? Call MTN again?

When looking at access logs is your sim number supposed to be under tel:

I was slightly amazed at Afrihost support today...

A client recently purchased a router from us and they chose to go the Afrihost route.

We set up the router and set up the APN and even tested the router with our own Afrihost SIM to ensure the APN was 100% and so the customer would need only to insert their Afrihost SIM when it arrived, turn on and go!

After a week, the client got their SIM and it "didn't work" and the support line condemned the new router as faulty.

Long story short, if Afrihost send a micro-SIM when a Mini SIM is required it's not going to work... :wtf:

OK, I'll grant you that the customer may have requested the wrong SIM size but why could no one in support see the issue? They were told the router model number and they must have a record of the SIM type sent.

Any way, a SIM adaptor fitted and the customer is up and running... Our credibility 100% Afrihost 0%!

Sounds like an odd one, not sure if there was a mix-up with stock on our end of if a micro SIM was selected during checkout?
Either way, I'd like to see where we dropped the ball here - can you PM me the account info so I can take a closer look?

Same here. Well, it was slow a while ago. Then is stopped working, and after rebooting my router, I can't even establish a connection.

All is fine with my other Afrihost sim (in my phone), however.

Very strange... Still seeing the same issue on your router this morning?
 
It seemed a little better this morning, but still slower than usual. We'll see tonight.
