Afrihost Mobile Feedback

Is anybody else experiencing issues. I got my mom 2g mobile data but she constantly complains that her whatsapp messages are not transmitting and have to switch over to the MTN mobile data.

That's a strange! Is she experiencing any other Connectivity issues?

Can you please PM me her APN number, I want to check a few things on my side.

Hi

Two questions, as I am not sure how Mobile works:

I have a DSL line/bundle that includes 350mb of Mobile data. Q1: Is there a way to share this among 3 family phones, or is it limited to just the one device? Q2: Is there an easy way to up the allocated amount to say 500mb, 1Gb?

Are you referring to an Afrihost Bundle? I'm not aware of any 350MB packages... :(

As far as Afrihost Mobile Data goes, unfortunately you can't share the same bundle between SIMs. Best would be to set the device up as a hotspot to share data. :) All upgrades are immediate and easily managed via ClientZone.

Need help with Afrihost helpdesk:

I'm getting the weirdest excuses why my Mobile 4 APN package stopped working.

Sorry to hear about the long delay here. :( A Support Leader just picked up your escalation. I'll follow up on this for you.

Well Afrihost just lost me as a customer, this is the biggest bull**** I have ever heard
Vanessa is telling you the truth there is no excuses here.

With any and every network provider in South Africa, If you have a sim card from that provider and you do not make at least one phone call every 90 or 3 months they will disconnect the service on that sim card.
This is in line with the RICA law and also to prevent crime.

If you can not make a call to that sim card number and it states the number has been disconnected then you would need to purchase a new sim card, cancel the old one.
We will then move over the remaining data for you.

Thanks, ghostim, I got your PM as well. :)

Unfortunately this is true for prepaid SIMs. If MTN detect inactivity on the number (not counting the Afrihost APN) your number will be de-provisioned after 90 days. :( Did you move over to prepaid in the last few months?

And suddenly all the excuses ran out

This is a known issue which our Mobile Development Team are currently addressing with MTN. :) Unfortunately some Afrihost SIMs were de-provisioned by MTN for the same reason as mentioned above. I can confirm that our Team is working really hard to resolve the matter with MTN , and in most cases, clients have been able to keep the same SIM and number. :)

So I'm screwed. And alternative solution put forward. Just f**k u. Normal Za customer service, yawn

I don't think we'll ever reach that conclusion. :) The quickest solution would be to sign up for a new Afrihost APN using an MTN prepaid number. This will provision your data immediately and I can move over all unused data from the previous account. Alternatively, you can allow some time for me to find out progress on your current SIM issue and you might not even have to go through any admin.

Once again, I'm super sorry about the inconvenience here, but it is an MTN issue that we're currently sorting out. Perhaps it's best to discuss your solutions further over PM. :)

Ok number 1 : if I buy a MTN sim and use it I'm going to have the same issue in 30 days.
number 2 : I'm not interested in you technical issues, i'm just a very pissed off customer
number 3 : I'm a highly qualified IT engineer, so I know all the excuses

I personally recommend that our Clients opt for sim card that we've issued. That way you don't have to worry about airtime being loaded onto the sim card every 60-days. We'll keep the sim card active and make sure that the data is allocated each month.
