Afrihost Mobile Feedback

Hi.

You can port again in 60 days.
Do you want to port back to MTN? Please try to reverse the port with MTN directly.
I ported 2 Feb to Airmobile and I want to port over to MTN again since the lack of WiFi calling is a f up for me.
The regulations say 1 calendar month, surely Airmobile cannot override this and make it longer?

The best way to do it now is to reverse the port with MTN directly, provided you still have the sim card.

Yes, it should only be 1 calendar month.

well i ported from the old airmobile - that old sim is gone, I have a new MTN sim and I will just attempt to port out the usual way.

@Afrigirl port out approved and in process, the email is wording is a bit odd - cancelled on 10 March? Its supposed to go tonight.

We received your port out request for your AirMobile number 27xxxxxxxxx.

Please note that your AirMobile services will be cancelled by 2024-03-10 and your number will be put in a holding pool in order to port to another Mobile Service Provider.

This is to give time for network synchronisation to be completed.

Hi all. Can anyone assist me please, after attempting a number port to AirMobile for the past 2 weeks I've had no voice service and only getting responses that the issue is being escalated.
Afrihost ticket number is IDS-475-75922.

Geez Afrihost support seems non-existent when it comes to Airmobile.
I get that things go wrong sometimes but when these issues are not being addressed in a timely manner it does give off the impression that support is not up to the task after Airmobile launch.

2 weeks no resolution for WayneCPT and rterblanche who has been struggling for 25 days...
Yeah I won't be recommending Airmobile to anyone porting their primary number, definitely too risky.
So it's day 25 being without a phone number/sim after porting to airmobile and all I get sorry there's a backlog. I would think people that has been waiting for 25 days to get a working sim get's helped first. So my warning is stay away.

Hi @Intox

I have been away on leave, had @AfriGuy and @AfriNatic cover for me where they can.
I have requested @rterblanche to drop me a PM so I can check and assist, still waiting for him.

@WayneCPT I will have a look at the ticket provided.

Hi guys. Please assist if possible, seems like no one at MTN can help me.

I was ons Afrihost Air9 mobile month to month. I cancelled effective 1st of March and was told that my number would switch to MTN Prepaid.

1st of March came and it seemed to work, accept for data. I have signal but there is no 4g or 3g sign next to the signal bars.

I have tried updating the apn settings
Tried the simcard in multiple phones, same problem. Hence it must me a sim problem

Today i did a sim swap with a brand new MTN sim and still no data access. Strangely, the new sim cards data worked while i was waiting for my number to loaded onto the new sim card. As soon as my old number was active on the new sim, the data stopped working again...

As if there is a block on my number just for data. Calls and sms work fine.

Hi

Please drop me a pm with your email address.

When you change from Prepaid to Contract or Contract to prepaid we need to log a ticket with MTN to re-add the Afrihost APN.

Hi @Afrigirl @AfriNatic for some reason i do not get one time pin codes anymore on one of my numbers that i ported to airmobile a while back. It just suddenly stopped working. Anything i can do my side perhaps i have switched phone off deleted the APN re-added still nothing?

Edit: Finally got hold of someone via whatsapp support but apparently nothing wrong with the sim but I still can't register Whatsapp or get my Makro OTP SMS.

Whatsapp said it can't phone the number nor does it get the OTP code via SMS they said i must contact my provider

Hello.

We are aware that some of the new Airmobile numbers do not get Whatsapp verification OTP. Please drop us a PM so we can log it for you.

Hi all. Update from my side.
18 days now, still no voice service, not a single update from Afrihost since I've attempted this number port.
I've always had top things to say about Afrihost, but this is the absolute worse service I've ever experienced

yeah airmobile mvno was a bit of a fail - i'm hoping they can turn it around (like they did back in their DSL days) .. for now I am back onto MTN - bozzagigs has the same prices if you take their 20gig (10 day + 10 night) compared to AH's 10 gig. Only that it lasts 30 days, and their call rate is R2 a minute.. AH still better in that respect but they need to sort out the technical issues.

I understand there are some functions that we have lost with switching to MVNO with MTN; however, as soon as they allow VoLTE and VoWIFI for MVNOs, it will be enabled for all clients.

Yeah man, I hope so too.
I'm wondering now if a number port straight to MTN would have been the same fail I'm experiencing now.
Just the fact that you get no updates from Afrihost is shocking, thats like the least i'd expect.
Anyways, it wasn't about the cost of voice or data for me, it was service.

Hi.

We are still waiting for MTN to advise us on the issue with the outgoing call to Vodacom on your SIM card.

indeed, the price was a bonus but i do rate AH service highly which is why I will happily keep my 2 fibre lines with them and my legacy airmobile numbers. I made the mistake of jumping ship before realising the lack of VoWifi and VoLTE (out of their hands, but they did not state this would be lost when going to the new Airmobile) (Noted @Afrigirl)

I did not have any issues with porting luckily, but it seems like a few people have had, it is surprising you are not getting the usual AH prompt resolution.
