Afrihost Mobile Feedback

I also noticed on Pi, Carrier Aggregation works flawlessly.
So moving all my Fixed LTE services as well.

On AirMobile I only ever saw 2 CA or no CA.

On Pi I see 5 CA

Bands 1, 3, 8, 41 and 41 on LTE.

Honor 200 Pro, Honor 400 Pro, Samsung S24 and a Huawei P30.

One thing to note.

If porting from AirMobile to Pi.
VoLTE and VoWiFi are disabled as AirMobile don't support it.

Just hop onto Pi support chat and ask them to reprovision VoLTE and VoWiFi. Will start working again in about 2 hours.
I asked them, and appears I reached some sort of AI Chat bot. Told me VoLTE & VoWiFi is enabled by default, and to switch the options on, on the device. But no luck with my Fruit phone

Then you will get an option to speak to a human.
Ask for VoLTE and VoWiFi to be reprovisioned. Make sure to wait at least 2 hours and then reboot the fruit.

@Hummercellc is this on the Pi's Home Internet plan?
Both Mobile and Home internet.
Plus they support a lot more routers, the list is long.

My parents have the Huawei H155-383, I put the Pi SIM in after removing Afrihost, now it shows LTE 5CA (Bands, 1, 3, 8, 41 & 41) + 5G NSA (Band n78) Speeds close to 1gbps

Afrihost had zero CA. 1 band on LTE and 1 Band on 5G NSA they were lucky to hit even 50mbps.

But I am still testing....

Tried this with no luck.

Appears telling them it works on MTN sim, the script they use falls apart.

Strange, the guy that helped me knew exactly what I was talking about. Took him 5 minutes and mine is working.

The late night crew are on the ball.

Maybe wait until 8 or 9pm.

I told them I ported and mine stopped working, and it was working before the port went through.
He suggested a reprovision on the services.

Looking much better

Finding AirMobile to be switching from full signal 5G to 3G randomly. Anyone else seeing similar behaviour?

I think its network and area dependent. I get 3ca on Air Mobile and speeds are good. I can see the tower.

Recently got an eSIM-only phone, & my experience doing a SIM swap to eSIM was so ****. I'm on Telkom.

Surprise, surprise, there is no online eSIM portal. So to the Telkom shop I go. 1st shop: "Eh, sorry, we are out of stock of eSIM."

The 2nd shop at least had an eSIM in stock; 1 hour later, it was R150 for the SIM swap, and I have a SIM at least.

Airmobile has the perfect portal for eSIM that makes life so much easier. I just wish they had VoLTE & WiFi calling then I would port my main number.

I've also run into this before "Eh, sorry, we are out of stock of eSIM" never knew a digital product could run out

Hi Afrihost team,

My son currently pays for our home internet (Air Mobile) as that was the package my late husband got before he passed away, and we’ve been loyal Afrihost fans for years because your support and service is top-notch.

However, I’m a graphic designer and blogger, and we’re really feeling the pinch with the current costs. We need to move to a more affordable uncapped plan and want to get the LTE uncapped. I see your Telkom 20Mbps plan is R597, but Telkom direct has it for R449.

We really don't want to leave Afrihost because we trust your service, but as a family, we have to look at that R150 saving. Is there any way you can bridge that gap for a long-time customer so my son can keep the account with you?

Also we have the TP-Link MR6400 router and can definitely not afford the TP-Link NX510v that you are suggesting. So please advise asap. Thank you. 🙏

How much data do you use per month?
I'm on MTN Shesh600 and get 300Gb @ 30Mbps for R459, which includes a loan modem. After 300Gb your speed is reduced to 2Mbps IIRC. It is a month-to-month contract

Thanks for the suggestion! I checked out the Shesh deal, but I actually need the 500GB threshold for my design work and photography and my son loves his streaming on YouTube. Plus, I already own my router, so I’d rather go SIM-only without the stress of a loan device. Appreciate the tip though! 🙏 My son already signed up for the Telkom LTE Deal, so I am quite happy. 🙌
