Afrihost Mobile network downtime

O yeah, I momentarily forgot that MTN owns the majority of shares. Then I sincerely hope the MTN will invest heavily in the network to reduce the high amount of dropped calls, and improve the speed of data. Just a shame about that fine..:)

We have already, our IPC is flying!

Not necessarily :)
Did you manage to chat to our team to investigate? Happy to take a look through some logs, but I'm confident what was seen this morning was isolated.

No, they called in independently. Might add all 8 are investigators and work throughout Gauteng.

Was a reason for the drop provided by our team?
Happy to double check logs for you - this drop is pretty easy to spot on our logs.

Just a quick update, monitoring seems to show more connections coming in now - a few guys around the office, including myself, have seen APN access return.

I must say, I've always been impressed by Afrihost's continued presence on Mybroadband, keeping us up to date when an issue like this arises. Thanks!

Thank goodness I had my spare mifi with a VODA data sim in, in the traffic earlier. Afrihost data sim was connected but with zero throughput.

You should be seeing your Afrihost Sim connecting again. Would mind testing and letting me know?

It stays plugged into my vehicle and I am just out of wifi range from the garage. Will check in the AM

What phase me most is the WhatsApp throttling being done by MTN....it is so obvious.

Definitely shouldn't be seeing anything along those lines. I use WhatsApp daily and haven't noticed any issues.
How are you determining traffic is being shaped/ throttled?

My whatsapp calls are as clear as a normal call on Vodacom. No throttling with my Afrihost data sim

Also just want to confirm, that all of our Mobile data options don't see any shaping whatsoever :)
