Afrihost Mobile network downtime

Sorry about the downtime guys, working hard to have connectivity restored to affected clients.

More specifically, I think they shoud move to Vodacom. It seems Vodacom has the best network by far. MTN's network seems to be the worst currently.

We've generally seen excellent results with the MTN Mobile network. I'm afraid glitches can happen from time to time.

Yes, i believe that Vodacom has much more stability , consitancy, but think they will need to wait for that contract to finish though.

We did indeed, and now are running on our own IPC. A switch to a different Mobile provider simply isn't possible though.

Must be optimistic, it must be like, 'A switch to a different Mobile provider simply isn't possible...YET" XD

Amazing how this was reported by one of my customers at 10am this morning that 8 SIM cards are experiencing this issue and were informed that they should fill out a MTN coverage form for investigation - are you really trying to alienate customers? So glad Afrihost is on top of their own network and support staff.

Definitely haven't been ongoing issues since this morning - we spotted the trend when multiple clients reported this 30 mins or so ago.

I'm not really worried about a glitch like the current one. I'm pretty satisfied with Afrihost Mobile's data performance to be honest.

But it seems tests confirm what many of us has been experiencing/fearing for some time now: dropped voice calls on MTN's network really is an issue. Also, compared to Vodacom, data performance is not on par.

Again, this probably won't stop me from using MTN/Afrihost for the time being. Since activating Afrihost voice a little over a week ago, it has been great. I'm just concerned that moving forward, things might not improve at a fast enough pace.

Always improvements to be seen, and neither MTN or Afrihost will stop :)
Great to hear you're part of the Voice trial!

O yeah, I momentarily forgot that MTN owns the majority of shares. Then I sincerely hope the MTN will invest heavily in the network to reduce the high amount of dropped calls, and improve the speed of data. Just a shame about that fine..:)

My bad, must've been their imagination then?

Not necessarily :)
Did you manage to chat to our team to investigate? Happy to take a look through some logs, but I'm confident what was seen this morning was isolated.
