I'm at the end of my Vodacom contract and I'm considering porting to Afrihost. I don't like what I see in this forum. Seems like a lot of people are having trouble.

However people only speak up when there's a problem, almost never to say thanks and well done.

So what can all you afrihost mobile users tell me. I've still got 2 months to decide.

As soon as I heard that you can roll with AH mobile on a prepaid SIM I jumped ship from CellC and I've never looked back. Others have had issues, I haven't. I'm happy with them.

I don't remember when it was that I ported over, but it was more than a year ago.

Afrihost Mobile is pretty rocking if you ask me... ;)

All jokes aside, feel free to PM me if you have any questions!

Really happy to hear about your good experience! :) Here's to many more years!

Have ported most of my numbers across from VC - the rest will be ported as soon as the contracts run out. Calls are clear and I have not had a dropped call yet. The areas I roam in I get better/faster data from Afrihost than I got from VC and at a much cheaper price. So far I have not had any reason to regret moving over. Only niggle is the MTN adds that pop up from time to time - although I have unsubscribed from them.

Afrihost mobile rocks. No complaints EXCEPT for the "You are capped" error message when there is data on the account... still waiting for permanent fix for this.

Otherwise... no complaints. Great choice!

Are you referring to the popup that happens while you make calls? This appears to be a new rollout for all MTN prepaid subscribers... Our Mobile Team is currently working on an agreement with MTN to solve this.

Got a new MTN sim on the 250mb, I even got good signal in dodgy remote parts of south africa :erm:
Never had any APN issues and whatnot.
life is good

Early last year I renewed my mtn contract. Then a new thing happen....

If I for example called family in the UK(other instances too...) I'd get this infernal black box that popped-up offering some bundle special/deal. And it was damn annoying.

I kept phoning MTN, got referances etc...

After 2 weeks I called I explained to the agent that I was pissed off and here are the dozen plus referances numbers. X, Y , Z steps is what the previous people made me do.

I then stated that at no point did I accept or approve them sending me this spam and unless it stops right there and then I will consider it as a breach of contract on MTN's part. And that steps would be effected that same day.

And guess what? I still have not had any...
So they CAN turn it off. They chose not to.

It definitely does sound like you can turn it off on a case by case basis. Our Mobile Team is currently working on a way to have this switched off by default for all Afrihost Mobile users, though. :)

10c a mb out of bundle rate is nice still, still it's cheaper to get bundles, but meh I prefer out of bundle as I can exactly set the amount I want to spend for the month and know that is what I will be charged ;)

6 months so far bar one or two niggles, pretty happy.

I love hearing about how differently people manage their account. Going out of Bundle seems like a good idea if you set your limits. :) Maybe after more time you'll be able to get an average usage figure and make an informed decision if you ever wish to move over to a data bundle.

Been with Afrihost 2 plus years. Never looked back. Definitely worth it.

The reps on these forums are worth it alone.
I can't deal with voda/cellc/mtn etc. customer support. With AH it's at least real people willing & able to help.
