Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

I think the more people start using streaming in your area for CCTV and for products like Netflix and their SA counterpart - the more things will fall over at exchanges that cannot cope with the demand on its infrastructure and that will only change when Telkom upgrades their exchanges.

There is no point in upgrading any ISP account if the infrastructure is the REAL bottleneck - The ISPs don;t own the Telkom infrastructure that uses Telkom exchanges to connect tot the net. And that is the bottom line.

Throwing more money into a "faster" account with your ISP will just frustrate you more and your bank balance more - if your current account cannot even function at maximum promised performance. ;)

You're just throwing more money at the same problem.

At the moment Telkom is focusing heavily on rolling out FTTH to as many areas as possible, so hopefully the areas with the most congested Exchanges will receive access to FTTH pretty soon.

I put in my cancellation for my business account yesterday, I was getting around 700ms ping on Destiny...
I then switched to my backup ISP and was getting 350ms ping, not too great but much better, will be looking at other ISP's...
Afrihost reps please make sure that my cancellation is done before the 25th, here is my ticket number : DVZ-147-11074

From what I can see there wasn't any shaping on the Uncapped accounts and definitely not the Business Uncapped accounts on Saturday. Looking at the traceroutes it's those Optinet hops that are flaring up again. :(

Which services weren't performing great for you?

What about the 169.1.5.128 hop on your network?

You can request a cancellation from the ClientZone, you just need to go to Connectivity select your Business Uncapped account and under the Edit Package button you will be able to request the cancellation.

What about the 169.1.5.128 hop on your network?

I'm not sure to be honest, I asked our Network Team to look into it, but apart from that one traceroute Standerr posted it didn't look to act up at any other times.

Unless you were seeing increased on that same hop?

When you do the cancellation, and you have Afrihost manage your line, do you have to cancel the line as well?

If we managed your DSL line, you will need to request the cancellation from the ClientZone as well. When you complete the cancellation you will be able to choose to either move the line to the Openserve Holding Pool or that we cancel the DSL component outright.

Out of interest, when business uncapped gets shaped, is there a notification in the clientzone like on normal uncapped?

That is not what he asked.

As I said, if you want to move your line to a different ISP you will need to cancel it. If you want to keep your DSL line with Afrihost, you won't need to request the cancellation of the DSL line.

Cancelled the line as well, moved it back to Telkom, now hopefully I still have adsl 01/09/2016

We'll submit the order to move the DSL Line to the Openserve Holding Pool on the 1st of September. You will need to request that Telkom or your new ISP moves the line from the Holding Pool to them.

and will there be downtime? I remember when I moved from mweb to Afrihost and mweb was managing my line, there was no downtime at all

Previously there wouldn't have been downtime, now with the Openserve Holding Pool there may be some downtime as the DSL line is put into a Suspended state in the Holding Pool itself until the new ISP accepts the DSL line.

Is it not possible to move the line before the end of the month?
