Afrihost New Network Feedback - Part 2

Dear Afrihost

Please can you urgently escalate as we are not as of late getting feedback from your lines department and this is becoming extremely frustrating.

Fiber has been installed to our home on the 22nd of October, the technician had to use the existing VDSL copper cable to pull the fiber in the conduit which means we have no VDSL in the meantime and till this day the fiber that was installed is dark, there is no link and we are not getting a proper response from Afrihost why the new fiber is not working.

We are now in this situation for more than a week now with NO SERVICE from the old VDSL or the new replacement Fiber.

:(

Yeah.. I'm going to follow-up with the Team today to see what the progress of that is.

Yes please, most of yesterday it was OK-ish, ping was down to 190 (as it should be) but there was still packet loss (which would make it bump up to 380ms and the tank would go forward and then travel backward etc.) every few seconds which does not occur on capped accounts. Then yesterday afternoon I started getting massive issues again with spikes up to 1000ms and massive packet loss.

So maybe a profile has been loaded but it just needs further tweaking?

Maybe someone can clarify for me. I cancelled my telkom dsl line and data. Effective the 6th of this month. Then I was informed I have to re activate my dsl line with Telkom and then request a migrate (through the same process I took to cancel my line ) please tell me it ain't so !

Yeah, you should not cancel your service with Telkom, that's exactly what they'll do. If you wanted to migrate your adsl port to another ISP, you just needed to ask Telkom to put your adsl service in the holding pool, once there, the other service provider should pick it up & your line will then be migrated to your ISP of choice.

Thank you and ag no. Another 21 days waiting after sending the email for telkom to call back to to ask if I really want to migrate.

I heard its openserve holding pool if Im correct so does it still go through Telkom.

My apologies, you're correct, all ISP's & Telkom have to deal with Openserve regarding adsl lines.

Things beyond the exchange are pear shaped again today...

Afrihost Capped account

And the pings go higher than 300ms per hop past this point...

Oh dear... :( They do tend to take what you ask them quite literally. :( Holding thumbs that your line gets reactivated soon!

These results seem to be very extreme for network congestion. It seems like you're pinging the local BRAS router, so that would make sense as it's basically the second hop in your traceroute, which is before the traffic enters our network.

And what does that exactly mean, keep pestering Telkom for month three.

I need Help i upgrade my Line to vdsl
and i only get it working after i put in vlane ID 835
and my Fritz!box is now working
is this the correct vlane for vdsl 40

Do you have a VDSL router? Please drop me a PM with your account details.
