Afrihost New Network Feedback

My internet was down the whole evening, after an hour of troubleshooting with a support consultant I suggested i try using my afrigreen username and it worked instantly.

According to the consultant it's the same network and account etc but then why does the afrigreen username work and the normal one doesn't. He couldn't answer me so I asked that he escalates it to technical for investigation.

I'll need to see more, that is very unusual and should not happen. They both use the same infrastructure and authenticate off the same radius. There could have been an issue with the data provisioning, but I can't really say without taking a look myself.

Please PM me, I'd like to look into this myself :(

You sir have been pm'd

On another note (should I take this out of this thread maybe?) I had packet loss of 70% last night. Made myself a cup of coffee from my tears and watched a TV show on DSTV. Can't Netflix, can't twitch, can even download a movie to watch... :(

Good times.

What's Twitch lol

Streaming of people playing games basically, if you're into PC gaming stay away from Twitch, it will consume your life.

Historically though Twitch has been awful on SA ISP's for some reason, not sure if the issues have been sorted since I got the monkey off my back.

That's super horrible. We didn't see this in general. Any tests I can look at?

Streaming on 780p if not for congestion. Great stuff. gaming.youtube also works well.

The daily usage shown on the graph in client zone was a removed a few months back, I posted about this I think in November last year, I see its still not added (this is not a new function, your graph used to show this). I know I can get the usage logs sent, but its far easier to see the usage on the graph. Please don't remove useful functions.

As we discussed when you raised this, it was removed as such. The changes we made from moving to a new network (twice actually from POC to the full network) this was something that required some changes to restore. It is scheduled to be added back. You can see daily graphs but not the totals when you rest your mouse on the peak point as before.

I need the totals to be shown again, but now your are on the new network, so it should be quick to re enable?

There is some complexity in this and it is also affected by the imminent voice launch, which is why the fix has been delayed, because it makes more sense to roll out a comprehensive solution to deliver that functionality for all products.

If you go far enough back you'll find a post of someone explaining it and then I/Afripeps explaining it as well.
The problem with Twitch is their cache servers (where they host a lot of their streams) lack enough bandwidth to supply for the demand. If you're lucky and get one that has enough capacity/connect directly to twitch servers you'll have an extremely enjoyable experience, else it won't be that great.

I also experienced Twitch lag/buffering on a 150Mbps/500Mbps line in Europe, the problem is not isolated to South Africa.

Thanks AfriGuys :) So my account runs perfectly at 10MB at night, during the day between 5MB and 6MB but that is normal for the exchange I am on where speed takes a knock during the day but latency is always rock solid.

Will keep you appraised of the situation.
