Browsing has been slow all day for me :/ even using unodns instead, reddit and imgur have been awful to use!

Latency doesnt' seem to be an issue but throughput is atrocious, speedtests don't reflect that tho.

Not seeing anything really stand out in your tests though - does using another ISP replicate the issues?
 
So I want to get adsl. I see the Previous tenant already had a telephone line installed. So I just need to get Telkom to install/activate the phone line ( and send a techie to my home I guess?) and make sure I can get adsl, then I sign up for the Afrihost Uncapped Premium bundle , buy a modem, and they'll activate adsl line and I'm good to go? :D

Seems like you've got some pretty good answers on this already :)
If you have Telkom install a voice line, you can give us a shout and we'll do the DSL line for you.
 
not right now AG, was busy with some torrents at the same time, so could that have caused a slow down on say youtube?

P2P can slow down other services, depends how much bandwidth is required.
Definitely need to check some tests if you're still having issues though.
 
hey guy. we still haven't heard back from the critical team about this. Whats next??, even the guys with fibre capped accounts in pta had same problem the weekend. if you wondering what. we talking about the peer2peer STOPPED DEAD in its tracks.

I recently moved my line to AH and have been experiencing problems with our analogue line. There is a terrible noise on the line when people call our line. Is this issue that I need to take up with Telkom or can you assist. The problem seem to be on our analogue line and not adsl (yet).

We can do either or, if we log the fault it may be deferred over to a voice team which may see some delays as opposed to logging it directly with Telkom.
Do you have POTS filters installed on each jack in the home though?

From what I have seen, youtube will kill P2P not the other way around.

I think it'll depend on how the LAN handles the traffic, could very well be that some routers will prioritise traffic that comes first. If that's YouTube, it'll prioritise that.
From what I've seen, uploading stuff to Dropbox essentially kills a DSL line.

Yes there is a filter installed, the issue just started about a week or so. Not sure what to do or if I need to do anything yet

A noisy line will have a very negative affect on your DSL experience.
Happy to log a fault for you, but it may involve some delays as I mentioned above. Let me know how you'd like to proceed :)

Yesterday this time I was fed up and tired of doing line resets, router reboots and trying to figure out why my internet sucked. Traceroute and pings in Afrihost Test tool was all tripple digits. During the day my wife was complaining that she couldn't work. Tonight all is good though. This is on a 10mbps Business Uncapped package.
