Speed test:

Capture 2.PNG

and torrents - flying as usual:

Capture3.PNG

PS: Capped account on 2 Meg line

Question any idea why download from Blizzard remains constantly slow?

Nice. :)

ps. Great news PurSpyk!!:)
I'm no longer jealous of you :D ;). Although my download speeds still suck, which is strange because judging by the torrent speeds its pumping. I'm roughly around 10mbps, but my torrents is up around the 1.4MB/s mark on the download.

This on a 20mbps line. I'm guessing my speeds should be around 16 or 17mbps, rather than hovering around 9 or 10mbps

After all my recent troubles, all of a sudden the trackers are downloading as they used to and the torrent is downloading as expected, thanks to Oscar if this is a result of our chat earlier today. Will monitor and report any further issues.
Great news pal. :)

Torrent flying like a boeing tonight for me ...... so AH please dont touch anything.

I think they shaped your Game of Thongs download so they could watch it first :)
I was thinking earlier, it must be these bloody Game of Thrones fans hitting the downloading, which is causing all the issues :D

Agreed. Your speeds aren't good if you consider that you are paying for a 20 mbps but only getting about half that out. Hope you get it sorted - I would be seething by now.

The issue is how do you define "best effort"

I get told to open a support ticket, I open the support ticket, I get sent a whole lot of generic response about Telkom updating exchanges, which is totally unrelated to my issue, I then do the same test I have done many times, and then there is radio silence, I complain and I get asked has the issue been resolved. Why ask me if it clear that nothing has actually been done about my issue? It like lets hope things will improve themselves, or the client gives up and moves on. This is not how it should be done, and then their is the tone of the messages or the innuendos that you have been helped so much how can you still be unhappy.

This is how AH has always handled things.

Cheap is cheap, we shouldn't complain.

Business

Will check again tonight .... torrents arent a great measure. No worries.

They can be IMO.

They are pretty consistent for me with this setup for my line stats (run the wizard):

If I do 1 at a time, set global and per torrent connections to 450 and limit upload to 10 kay below theoretical, I can max my 12mb line assuming the torrent has a ratio of more than 1.

My issue is you submit tests either here or via a support ticket and then nothing happens, so in the end why are we even submitting tests? Is it a delaying tactic in the hope the issue will resolve itself? if you read this thread you can see the hassles I have been having, and still have.

Of course!

My original reason for asking about the 7Mbps on a 8Mbps product was due to conflicting information I got while talking to one of your support personnel via telephone. I suspect now that issue was related to a mix up with sync rate vs download rates and/or Kb/s vs KB/s.

Still thanks for looking into this from your side.

Coz you're talking to lemmings.

There are many Afrihost clients who are getting good value for money, and not having any issues.

All I'm saying is that one should expect issues of contention/shaping/lemming support on a cheap is cheap account and don't bother complaining when it's obvious that that's what's happening.

I'm not saying not complain, please do, when there are issues, just to highlight the problem. It's just that I have zero faith in AH's network consistency, they are yet to prove themselves.

I would agree, Afrihost's new network is good, but not constant. Latency does vary a bit, and connections drop at random (I am not talking about sync or PPPoE) actual TCP/UDP connections. Also international traffic has always been dicey from the get go. Local traffic is fine.

i get what you saying Wing, complain if you have to, after all you are paying for the service. However, i constantly read through the other other ISP threads, and apart from DJ's Crystal Web, there are alot of unhappy people at Vox, Mweb, Axxess, Web Africa as well. They are also not showing consistency, so imo its one of those things where you continue as an ISP to do the best to get it to an acceptable level. But, in the world of technology, its not always that easy. In my world(Cellphones) which i handle at work, its the same story. People moan about Samsung, or Android, and then point out that Apple JUST WORKS. It doesnt, and that is contrary to the belief of people and what Apple has imprinted into their minds.

sorry to use that as an example, but you either move to another ISP, or continue to complain until you get things right. the latter bit is not great to be fair though, because you can only complain for so much. But Wing, i agree with you, sometimes you just have to complain.

Exactly my point. Cheap is cheap ;)

Yep I did say I agree with you. Technology is a bummer normally, it works or it doesn't. But don't stop complaining, but it can get tiresome.

I hope things are running okay for Purspyk still. :)

Not doing torrents currently, updating my Windows 10, getting the latest fast ring build :)
