Afrihost New Network Feedback

Yup - same experience here. Started looking around for a new ISP, just don't know where to go, because it seems everyone is having some kind of issues. Mate of mine on MWEB is complaining. OW won't see me, VOX is a maybe - who else?

Tired of this shet.
The problem with me moving is that I need it to be unshaped (I download at weird hours) and I need at least 600gb of data a month

No where offers that @ AH prices...

So far though, Vox and CW is looking great

Telkom FTTH allows any IPC based account to be used, just like Telkom xDSL. You just learnt something today :)
Yes I did. I thought all ADSL data bundles were limited at 40Mbps.

ADSL? This is Fibre, and no, bundles are just normal accounts + line * 0.x of cost to entice customers to bundle. The account you get is the same as a standalone account in everyway and is not limited on Axxess.

In every traceroute I perform the 3rd hope always times out.
Can anyone tell me if this is a Telkom issue or an AH issue?
Thanks.

My 2nd hope latency looks pretty decent at the moment.
But browsing and downloads in general are rather slow.
YouTube seems okish at the moment running at around 2mbps last time I tested about 15 minutes ago.

That's not good enough. I'm not going to have a fibre connection unless I can hold the ISP to 100Mbps connectivity. I arranged a switch to Crystal Web from next month for this reason, as my fibre installation is nearly complete.

Afrihost officially supports up to 40Mbps. What recourse would I have if my speeds weren't close enough to 100Mbps, if they never offered to provide more than 40Mbps in the first place?

what on Earth are you on about?

I've have been "randomly" getting throttled on my 10mb Uncapped Business account, it varies but I've been throttle to 4mb, 2mb and even 1mb.

After dealing with support and sending them all sorts of info they requested they have just told me "Please note that I've run a session auditor on your account in order to refresh your connectivity profile. Please reboot your router at your earliest convenience and re-test your connection." Does anyone know what this session auditor is about?

I'm saying Afrihost doesn't support fibre. It doesn't matter if any account works on a fibre line - you'd be mad not to require a certain level of service commitment.

yea, rather not go with afrihost on telkom ftth 100mbps, maybe max up to 40mbps.

Ok since apparently I'm making claims and stuff here are some tests.
Disclaimer, I have no affiliation to any of these ISPs other than the fact that I give them money and in return they let me download stuff.

I have large accounts with both, for different reasons. I am not giving advice, I am correcting people.

Yes pre-echotel it was ****ing **** but on this new network, so far it has been less ****, but I am sure that will change once Axxess is moved over and Afrihost starts ramping up new networking advertising spin.

Still someting not right with DSTV Streaming. Could barely get 1Mbps throughput on the Rugby and now also on the F1.
Youtube giving full line speed.
tracert also normal.

Correcting what exactly? I didn't claim that Afrihost doesn't provide 100Mbps. I said they don't claim to provide 100Mbps. Big difference if your account starts underperforming.

+1, Also wait to see performance after Axxess gets moved over as well.

In another thread it was said that they have already been moved to the new network.
It didn't affect my network experience as it is still great.

If AH (or any ISP for that matter) turns to **** then jump ship. Does CW, Vox, PluGG, Connection, WA, Afrihost, Axxess, MWeb or any other claim to offer 100Mbs all the time? I ALWAYS see stuff about "up to" and "best effort" in EVERYONE's T&C.
