PS doesn't show download rate, I can assure you it's 4Mbps, as I often watch in my router when streaming YouTube etc. If it was 4MB that download wouldn't have taken all day. Was only 19Gigs. I have seen that same graph peak at 37Mbps.

Interesting... I thought the same! Are you an Uncapped user? The reason I ask is that you might see the graph peak that high while streaming but your downloads may be more limited due to shaping.

Ya, as I wrote I got MTR installed already, was just not sure about the command syntax. But here you are:

Thanks! Nothing is jumping out at me here except for the 10% packet loss on the 3rd hop. LaraC was seeing the same thing, but she was streaming while running the test.

Speed shocking in pe 40% packet loss

4 minutes to download 80 mb
View attachment 312415

This is on a caped account 280 kb/s

Evening! :) I can only see the 20% on your test, not sure where you are seeing 40% unless I'm missing something... :(

The higher latency can be expected going international. Regarding your 280kb/s transfer rate, what line speed are you currently running on?

I'm not saying that I don't see a problem, just need a little more info regarding your account. :)

I was running the test again and it was 40 %
on webafrica no packed loss and with Download manager 620 kb/s i was downloading the same file afrihost 4 min for 80 mb webafrica 2 min

Slow slow slow. TI was completely fooked, and thought my AH account would work, but no it's slow to load anything.

Hi, me again :p

I have not posted for some time now as my connection is OK'ish (not perfect, just OK)

Tried to play some Diablo tonight and running lag spikes in excess of 1000 ms is certainly no fun ...... :(

Anyways, here is some ping tests that I ran concurrently

I can only presume the major contributor to the huge lag spikes is the constant packet losses that occurs :(

I am honestly not sure if AH will ever resolve these few individual hiccups that a handful of end users are experiencing. When I have some more time at hand, I certainly will try to play the same games during similar times of the day to veify if it is indeed AH or maybe my setup/Telkom.

I am getting slower speed tests this evening. Earlier I saw some packet loss in quake live.

Something is not right.

*I'm on 2mbit but it looks like everything is getting throttled down to 1.6mbit or something; not seeing the same effect on WA.

Just got back home to find terrible throughput... some local and international sites not reachable. Torrents running at 20% max. - reminds me of the shaping on the standard uncapped accounts. Tested other ISP accounts, and they are all fine - line at full speed on everything but AH. Even MTN network running at full speed.

2 years on, and nothing has changed in the SOUTH. Still the same performance as before. One can only assume that the common denominator is whatever management tools/software AH uses, or whoever is setting it up. It does not take this long to do final tweaks on a network, nor is it possible to continuously get it so wrong :(

Can't install origin it gets 30 mb into the download then the download gets cut off...

*Third time's the charm....

Capped account 100 + 100.

Here we go again, guess what the new super network performs no better than the old system. Frustrating that this is actually allowed to continue, with no accountability.

Its really shocking that this type of service continues, we get chargedthe same price, yet the service is always worse. Mention some compensation for poor service and you get told management will make it up to us. Been hearing the same for too long, and management is honestly not bothered with customer complaints because there is never any improvement. I know the solution is probably to move to another isp, but in the long run we cannot change every month, and this type of service should be addressed. They hide behind a best effort clause, which quiet honestly is a cowards way out, as everyone will have a different definition of what is a best effort. In Africa, a persons best effort generally is way below international standards.

Pathetic.

How can I download Fallout 4 is I cannot even download a Windows Update??

AMEN!

and then tomorrow all we get is oh we see there were reports of issues, but then what, your network is a mess, your network staff seem to have no idea, whoever is configuring your network needs to be retrained because its always the same thing. We had a POC network, we reported issues, we were guaranteed these would not happen on the production network, and look, non stop issues.

Business users pay a premium, your product site shows 24/7 support. You have no toll free number, so anyone outside of the 011 region pays a premium for telephonic support, I must then pay for an sms so you can call me back which might not be immediate and I cannot sit up all night waiting for a call, Afrihost need to rather provide punching bags for clients, as my frustration levels need a release and a punching bag now would be a great help.
