Not sounding to good! Which DNS servers are you using? Any issues on other streaming or download services?

I alread reported that I am being Shaped on P2P with Business Acount..
Every night the hole week between 20:00-22:00 my P2P goes dead..
Did the Test with at least 10 Torrents with very high seeders and peers running the same time. (Only P2P was running Network hole day)

Also I asked a Friend that Has the same Business type of Acount as me to do the same TEST. (of cause he picked his own 10 Torrents)
Both of us was being Shaped on Business Acounts at the Same time.. (He was also not happy with the Result)

Here is my Graph....

It is now that time of the evening and I am seeing the same thing happening now..
So, 2 Business Accounts in deferent locations and the same Results..

When I switch over to my 1GB Capped Afrihost Test Acount my P2P goes MAX Bandwith!!!

But switch again back to my Business Account Afrihost, my P2P goes DEAD!!!:wtf:

Again Again Again.. something very wrong with my Business account..
And again I say .... It's happening the hole week the same time every night ..

I have just confirmed with our network team and there is definitely no shaping on your account at this time. I'll be happy to put you in touch with our team for some further details and advice. :)

Pls do so by putting me in touch with your team for some futher details and advice..

But.. Remember .... The Capped Test account goes MAX speed and Business Acount is very poor..
Afihost always say that Capped and Business Acount is under the same Settings..
But clearly with my tests i did this week, Capped and Business is not the same Unshaped settings..
I still say that my Business Acount is being shaped.. And with the same Test my Friend did, he also confirms it's being shaped.

At the moment it running halfway ok.. But not as Capped Account!

Although AH CC team is still working with me on my issues, I felt it worthwhile to share my observations on the forum ......... maybe someone can share some advice/comment, or maybe someone else is experiencing a similar phenomena.

Having had months of lag spikes issues on my AH account and having worked through all the changes on the AH network, I would be a liar if I said my connection has not improved with the "new" AH setup. It certainly did!

Truth be told, it changed a lot - having had severe latency issues every time I tried to sit back and enjoy some "me time" with my favourite gaming sites, the latency spikes are now much more under control (as they would only pop up once in a while during my evening's game play session. In essence, my internet experience is not perfect at the moment when connected via AH, it is merely OK'ish.

Having run all kinds of tests for myself and AH, one could not pin point the exact cause at this stage (because of the sporadic nature of this beast).

Yesterday, I finally decided to subscribe to a different ISP - not because I am giving up on AH, but more to retain my own sanity (e.g. verify if the issue is with my equipment/setup/Telkom or if it is with the ISP). Obviously one day does not prove much, but ............

Running a different ISP account since yesterday afternoon, last nights gaming sessions was pure internet joy! Torrent downloads throughout the night ran like a Swiss clock. Time will tell if last night's experience was merely a flash in the pan, coincidence or possibly the norm.

Herewith a few results of the tests I ran (for the record, prior to switching from my AH account, I did reset my router to ensure the fault was not "fixed" by rebooting the router during the ISP change cycle).

Why does AH require more hops to the same IP - any idea?

We're happy to do so, just drop me a PM and I'll pass them onto our team to get in touch with you :)

I think the difference in number of hops depends on the routing each network takes and where their breakout points are. If they sending traffic over WACS, traffic will breakout in Cape Town to go over WACS, whereas SEACOM traffic will breakout in Durban. Each network will set this up differently depending on it's upstream relationships.

Please keep working with the critical care guys, we really want to get to the bottom of this.

Will do - as I said, I have not given up on AH (yet) ;)

I also have to add that although poor internet performance can become extremely frustrating, the support from you via this forum is tremendous and if I have not done it yet, I do believe a HUGE thank you! is justified.

What I did find weird though, is on the AH trace, I noticed 2 hops in Cape Town at ~200 ms a hop. Not sure if it is normal traffic routing or possibly the network dealing with a high traffic load (I am somewhat of a nub when it comes to ISP networks ...... truth be told I am somewhat of a nub with most things :p)

Always glad to help and I really appreciate the thanks - means a lot to me :)

It's definitely weird and we want to get to the bottom of any latency on the network that could be affecting your experience. Our testers in Cape Town are showing great results at the moment, but we'd like to test as extensively as we can to look at all possible variables.

I dont see anything blocking that rockstar website, yet on my ipad it loads fine.

On my PC, chrome and opera fail to load it, cleared the hosts file and DNS cache.

Something is blocking certain aspects of the site, are you using an ad blocker/ peerblock type app on your end?
Maybe try disabling any AV system?

And capped accounts get free data......again.
Business uncapped nothing.
Leaving a rather sour taste in the mouth.
