Mine is slow tonight as well. But sleep now anyway, so will check again.

Something is definitely not happy there. The network is purring along nicely on our end, so we need to figure out what is going on. Could you ping bras.afrihost.com please.
So, the problem is - when I experience throughput like this I tend to switch off my PC and find something else to do rather quickly. I have high blood pressure and things like this might result in a heart attack or a stroke.
I checked to make sure that nothing else was running on the line (yes, even MS updates). To be sure, I even restarted my PC to make sure there is no service running in the background that could cause that. I was trying to watch a Dota game (in the client, not streaming) and at one stage my ping was 3000 with 70% packet loss.
I have not checked again this morning - was out the house pretty early. But will check as soon as I get home this avie to see if it is still problematic.
We do need to get this sorted, please. I am getting seriously frustrated because I am caught in a situation where I can get 4mb dsl and that is it. No uncapped LTE from Telkom, no fibre from anyone and average downloads on Afrimobile (not enough to justify the cost of the mobile data). So the ONLY option I have open to me is giving me hassles. The ol' ball and chain is not happy because she can't facepoop and do what she does, so.... not looking good.
Watching random dota2 vids
Restarted router and I can get 720p but not 1080p

Odd.
What did your throughput look like to YouTube?
Also, what's displayed on this page? http://redirector.c.youtube.com/report_mapping
I'll give this a try, thanks.
Edit:
With optimisation on:

With optimisation off:

So that isn't right at all. Optimisation seems borked. I did wait more than 15 minutes after turning optimisation on/off in order to carry out these tests.
Edit 2: After waiting for another 10 minutes the torrent is now running at line speed for the most part. The issue seems to be linked to business optimisation.
Is it only business customers who have reported this issue? Anyone on capped experiencing the same problem?
There seems to be a problem with YouTube tonight. Although videos don't buffer the connection speed fluctuates a lot.

I want your line
EDIT: Wait, scratch that. I want Thor's bonded 40Mbps x 2.
EDIT2: Torrents were flying, 10pm hits and all my p2p drops down to 50-60kB/s (and sometimes 10kB/s) from 990kB/s. Strange as I have no scheduler.

Am the only one in the house using the net atm, so should be getting ~8.3/0.8. (I was looking at the torrent, it was at 10kB/s / 9kB/s the entire time of the speedtest).
Very strange.
EDIT 3: 1.1kB/s now for the last 3 minutes... Hope this picks up, will keep a speed logger running. Going to bed.
EDIT 4: Things started picking up at 5am according to the logger.
4Meg home uncapped,World of Warcraft is also suffering randomly

My throughput capped out @ 3mbps on YT and had increased buffering @ 720p but it was very erratic dropping to 1mbps @ times
Odd.
What does the stats for nerds say? 3000Kbps shouldn't be too bad - I'm seeing about 7500Kbps for 720p content.
Test this video on 1440p for me please
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZCsegPiojc
(Post stats for nerds if you can)
Seems to be topping out at times there.
What DNS servers are you using, and what line speed are you on?

DNS: 169.1.1.2 // 169.1.1.1
Line speeds just hit really low for me now so ran the test a few times. (best results follow, also check out CPTs result with the red circle)
-snip
Last night I was getting the same YT speeds but had full line speed.
DNS looks good.
Do you have a 10Mbps line?
