Afrihost New Network Feedback

My Vox and Web Africa accounts worked at the same time the Afrihost was down.

In a SA Dota game where people where basically all using ADSL and the only people that went down were Afrihost people. So disagree Telkom is to blame.

Was a message on Axess website stating an outage in the northern parts of Joburg last night. Same thing happened the other day in the same region due to fibre being burnt on Telkom's side.

As far as I can see - there doesn't seem to be a general problem. Capacity also wouldn't be an issue as it's a Sunday and usage usually drops to about 30%. How's your browsing?

Z

Browsing is fine and usenet speeds have gone back to normal now. Seems like an intermittent problem. It had similar symptoms as yesterday's network outage (I also had a connection drop and then received an IP in the 169 range, but couldn't even browse the web then).

Was yours set to G.dmt and were you able to change it?

I was able to change it but it seems that I'm unable to run at ADSL2+

After I change it from "Auto to ADSL2+" I reboot the router, when it comes back online I receive a "No internet access" icon.

I'm not too sure why this is, I'll have to check up with AH on Monday.

Does Afrihost manage your line? Your DSL profile have to be updated to ADSL2 at either the ISP or at your exchange.

Yes, they control both my line and data.

I'll be waiting for AfriGuy to show up on Monday :D

Thanks for all the help :)

Message earlier in the week was about "slow speed" Things were still working. My connection did not drop.
You don't see a bunch of messages in any other ISP thread around the same time yesterday. Only Axxess and Afrihost who use the same network.

PPPOE is stuck at connecting on my router. Guest Telkom account works just fine.

Never mind now the guest account isn't even working. Guess Telkom must be screwing around with our area again.

Edit 2: guest account is working. Turns out you have to put www in front of the Telkom website url.
