I don't do gaming, I only stream YouTube and a few other things, and this is via an Android media player as my pc burnt out. My phone and my sons phone is the only other connection via WiFi, and he dowmloads a few games and me just whatsapp. So nothing else major.
I'm not sure how bad latency would affect live streaming say of something, as compared to online gaming though. The only thing that is happening, is that things take a minute or so to connect. Eg on my media player, I have the weather on it. When switching on the media player, it will take a minute to give me that weather update.
But as said, the speeds as seen below is pretty good, but the latency is horrendous

Hi, I am based in Durbs. Pings to London game servers are around 30-40ms higher than usual compared to other ISPs. The conenction is more stable but eish, 40ms is a lot of lag.
I'm not Home right now, but I'll use the ping tools app on my phone and see what else I can get, will post here laterWe're here!Apologies for the late response.
Can you post a traceroute or MTR? Would be useful for us to see where your latency spike is coming in.
Hey Shaun! Are you seeing more international latency than usual on your Afrihost account? What DNS are you using?

Auto assigned DNS I think. I didn't change any DNS settings on the router.
See above dude. Stil the latency has me stumped into the ground. Speed on my 4mbps line is near perfect, but no idea why the high spike in the L.Still having issues on your line dude?

Btw this morning I did 3 quick tests, and my ping was down at 16ms. Thought great, and checked again 2nd time and it shot up to 167ms and the 3rd time to 247ms.
So now I'm trouble shooting cabling, router, etc as I have my cables plugged into my media player.
Funnily enough, on the Ookla app on my Android phone via wifi, my ping is consistently around 10 to 13ms. But when I run that speed test on Ethernet and wifi via the Dolphin browser on my media player, the pings hit high up. So not sure why the Android app has my latency low, but on the media player it appears that high

Where abouts is the latency spiking up though, still on your router?
Here's an example traceroute I just ran, that's the kind of latency you need to see to your router.

Will Check when I get home. I'm not going to let this Latency person get me down, especially since Gian replied to me here on MyBB lol![]()
Although can you ask him to read his pm, as I sent in a complaint about there being no roll over data and a hot AfriGirl rep on hereHehe, that's awesome![]()

LOL.
You run a hard bargain for that roll over hey!
Seriously though, at the rate we're rolling out new products and improvements I'm sure it's something you'll see implemented soon.
I don't like complaining, but when are the Business customers gonna get some love. There's all these new products, bonus data, but Business uncapped users are not able to use any of that. We were some of the hardest hit customers with the troubles you had, but still we stuck it through and helped testing.
