Can I blame Telkom for the heatwave in Joburg? :P

I'm going to be home Sunday and see if the network is still up to scratch.

Best way to spend a Sunday. I don't think you're going to be disappointed!
 
Was gonna go for that, but I'm going for a bundle of 100GB + 4Mbps line which works out cheaper than 4Mbps + 50GB + AfrihostPlus. The mobile data would be nice (I'm not on MTN though), but I don't really need Simfy, though it does seem quite attractive.
To be honest, how much less are you going to pay for it bundled?

With AfriPlus, you can get 2 for 1 top up as well as being soft capped if you max out your 100GBs. Mobile data aside, simfy is pretty nice, apart from them keep on reminding me about that Hello by Adele :D

But that's just my input with regards to AfriPlus. I 're activated my Plus account, and it's been great.

Unless you saving alot by bundling, I would seriously consider AfriPlus. :)
 
If the 1st party is a new sign up, why don't you give him your referral link instead? :)
What I meant is, that if I'm an existing client, and the link is sent by an existing client. However, I've never made use of anybodys referral link, would I still be able to make use of it?

Definitely need to check out some tests - could you paste a speedtest and a traceroute here so we can take a look?

This issue is as annoying as it is intermittent. Most SpeedTests show great numbers, because it would "spike" towards the end but then sometime I would get a solid 4Mbs (which I might add is something I have never seen here) and then sometimes I get 1 or 2Mbs.

Where to from here?

That's a bummer. It would be cool, if you guys implement one referral per client, irrespective of which month they want to use it. :) eg I might want the discount say a certain month of the year, and then I'll just click on somebody's referral link, and have it activated.

I'm going to cry. I requested a port reset, which was done. My speed has now gone into oblivion, rubbish and useless. Bangs head against wall

Hey, you still have net. My last problem with Telkom just over a year ago they managed to disconnect my line from the exchange for ~4 days (after two weeks of no ADSL and only landline calls being possible). The next tech showed up and told us the last tech had just unplugged the cable from the exchange totally, the new tech plugged it back in, reset the port and all was well.

It's nonsense that I'm having to now battle, with speeds dropping below 1mbps. I told Telkom that the high latency I can handle, but they will have to improve my line speed as both can't go down the toilet.

At some point they are going to have to change my sync profile, or I'll demand a free upgrade to a 10mbps line.

I have to say Afrihost, I'm super disappointed in your limited CM4all site builder. The page number limitation is fine, but so drastically limiting the quantity of elements on each page basically removes all value in the product. Just tried to throw a website together for my mom and discovered that it can't even manage two gallery widgets without hitting the feature limit. And to add insult to injury, each gallery widget is very limited in how many images it can hold. And the horrible space for 'widget teasers' on each page can't be removed - also single handedly destroying the usefulness of CM4all.

I'll be downgrading her to the R9pm hosting package tomorrow and will spend the money on a nice Wordpress theme instead. Jesus guys. Why even bother.
 
Did the network just go belly up? ... or was it my exchange??
I lost my connection about 30 to 40 mins ago with my modem showing authentication failure.
After about 10 mins it managed to authenticate again but DNS resolution failed on all requests.
DNS Servers were perfectly resolved but couldn't be reached. 100% packet loss.
Now it's back :S
Anyway was a frustrating 40 mins especially given that there was no telephonic support and I'm trying to get some work completed.
Anyhoo... would be good to know whether others experienced the same.
