Afrihost New Network Feedback

Sheesh, there are others also having issues, but be a little respectful here. The network has been stable for most for quite some time now. So if there is an issue, the reps will check and revert.

Every Time there's an issue, it's the same bull***** over and over.... No, no respect I'm sorry. Respect is earned, not given by default. A network running "good" for a "few months" does not make up for YEARS of patheticness without any form of compensation. I'm not willing to "forget" years and years of bad service, because the "last while" has been good - it doesn't work that way I'm afraid.

There's issues, OBVIOUSLY, by the amount of complaints here... They don't even ACKNOWLEDGE it, instead, they try and LIE by telling us it's fixed? Can really go on, and on, and on, but I'll refrain from that...

Hi Guys

Seems like the problem is intermittent. It should be back up now, but we're still investigating.

We'll definitely put up a notice if this persists, it looks like some sites are back but others are not :(

So why don't you just move to another isp? The last I read from Vox and Web Africa on their threads, similar network issues and complaints. If you have been having issues for a long time, then I'm not sure why you didn't move.

I agree, respect is earned, but these reps despite a lot of abuse have acted in a polite and respectful manner. So they have earned the respect, and its not their fault if something goes wrong. Goodness, in the tech world whether it's a cell phone or a computer, something inevitably goes wrong at some point.

Also today is probably the 1st time in months, since there has been so many complaints in one day. I'm sure many on here can vouch for that, so unless something went wrong somewhere, I'm not sure what to tell you any more

Must just be irony then that EVERYTHING "we" want to access, is still down.... It's all one massive conspiracy yes, must be. That's it.

Yes - I'm in the industry too, don't worry :)

When things go wrong, MAN UP. Acknowledge it, fix it, apologize for it, and move on. AH is very good at moving on yes, unfortunately, I can't say much for the other two - which is what I'm on about....

Been over an hour now, still nothing on their web site (to acknowledge it), still nothing to fix it either. And we're not even talking about all the previous incidents too... Can think of cases where it took MONTHS for them to just "acknowledge" that they have a problem (think IPC). I can think of numerous cases where they manned up and offered compensation to capped users (mystery discounts, free bw, etc.) and -nothing- untill today was given to uncapped users?

Not really, I cannot access teamviewer.com for example.

Probably affected by the DSL international issue we're experiencing at the moment. Let's get this sorted on our side and then this should resolve :(

Any updates yet please, I think it is persisting? Every international site I am trying to access is down. Work has stopped.

This is every time the same it takes them long time to inform but only in working time weekends no support I try to phone afrihost on a weekend 30 min waiting

The problem is that when a user has a problem, they will post immediately on MyBB. When we pick up an issue, we first test, contact our upstream providers to try to ascertain the possible cause and severity of the issue before we can update the website and send out an alert. We're working on being faster to the draw in every area we can, but ultimately it's unlikely that we could ever beat the first complaints to the public if we are to do our jobs in the right way :(

Seems to be intermittent. It definitely came back for a good while since my first post, but seems to come and go and then some sites work while others don't, We're really scratching our heads here, but we've got all our clever people on this :(

news.afrihost.co.za is also not working for me. Initially I was getting an error message of "Invalid Server" when I tried to test the connection in SABNzbd. Now the server is timing out for me. Ditto for XSUseNet.

Thanks for the feedback. I have switched to our alternative ISP and we are working again. Will check status page for updates.

Home Afrihost connection is down, but this is a bigger issue. Our neotel fibre has the same issues this morning.

Authentication should be fine, and you should see normal local services. This should only affect international at the moment :(

Just btw, local sites are giving an issue as well.

EDIT: Nevermind, the local sites that I am trying to access, aren't using local resources.
