Afrihost New Network Feedback

The thing is on Mweb and IS they play fine, only Afrihost connections seem to be touch and go.
Maybe the incorrect CDN is being used to serve Videos on Facebook? DNS error?

Shouldn't be any issues around content delivery - do you know where the content is being pulled from?

Changed to Google DNS and the problem goes away.

Seems the Afrihost DNS servers are pointing all Facebook content to MTN CDN's
And Goole DNS servers are pointing all Facebook content to Mweb CDN's

So the MTN CDN's are useless

That's strange. As far as I know we use the CDN's at Teraco, but maybe some changes were made when we had the international problem. Should be set back to normal by the team that manages our DNS cluster :(

It been like this since Afrigreen. Does not bother me, but the family all complaining. :-)

I am so tired of this. Have been having line drops and packet loss for the last 2 weeks. Logged a ticket 10 days ago and have not heard a peep from Afrihost. This is not the 1st time either. Shocking service.

That's pretty awful, I can imagine your frustration. Did you report this to us? Could you PM me with any references that I can follow up? :(

Dunno whats up but cant connect on anything dsl or mobile... Switched to MTN gprs on my phone and could at least post this

Confirmed on my side... there are serious DNS issues this morning, with most sites down for me. Also, cannot access anything on MWEB domains (mail, etc.). My VPS in the US is unreachable, and the provider has informed us that my IP (AH) has been blocked for port-knocking. Even with the block removed by them, I can sign in once, then get blocked again.

I also noticed a very long, convoluted routing from traces done. Seem to have more hops than normal, which has increased latency overall. I am now on my WebAfrica account, and all is working as it should...

Can someone please investigate?

Hey guys

Looks like there is an issue on our side. We're still trying to determine the scope of the problem but it seems like East and South are affected.

Anyone in the North having the same issue? For now what we're seeing are users authentication and getting a session IP but no throughput :(

Can anyone confirm if using alternate DNS or any other fix has worked for them? Will help us diagnose the problem :(

Just a DNS issue on my side (CT), currently using Google's DNS though which is working(for anyone who needs to use it, it's 8.8.8.8).

If its any consolation...my torrents are running at full speed lol!

In Cape Town...

Got the yellow triangle in win 10 tray saying no internet access but the torrents dont seem to care lol! Still at full speed but no connection in any browser.

I think torrents are like cockroaches. They'll still run after a nuclear bomb!
