Hey guys

Just posted on the noticeboard.
Seeing increased latency and reduced throughput on the network - affecting clients in the North and South regions.

Updates will follow as soon as they're available. We're working on it :)

EDIT 09:28 Looks to be mostly resolved, we're monitoring closely.

From the previous tests you ran on your 10Mbps (or 8Mbps?) sync profile, throughput didn't seem so great there either - so sounds like the area isn't able to sufficiently support throughput. This only becomes more obvious at higher sync rates.

but AG, surely something is amiss here, because mornings and afternoons still, my speeds are okay, evenings gone, busted.

My latency is also great from what it was back in the day, at 13ms and Jitter is around 1 or 2. Its the speeds running at night that is hurting me, so surely somewhere along the exchange during peak times is causing issues. The problem is that Telkom seems to try and avoid it, by actually coming out to check.

Congestion isn't always seem in terms of latency. It makes sense in a residential area that throughput demands are higher in the evenings, which is when you see the issues.

Easiest to test if to use another ISP - I believe you've done this already and seen similar results?

correct.. the problems are more on the streaming side of things. My torrents run at around 680kbps or more at times, and browsing in general is pretty sharp throughout the day. so streaming is basically the issue, which is what i do mostly.

But ill address with Telkom to see if they can check the exchange, and ill let you know how it goes

PS: can you check with AfriFella, as i sent him a pm.. he said he will do a few things his side, but then he went offline. Not sure what he will do his side, but hey i am game for anything right now lol :D

Hello Afrihost team,

I did a line upgrade for my parents, from 2mb to 10mb at Friday morning 10:40am, it said after I did the upgrade it will take 48 hours. My parents said during this weekend the DSL kept going on and off, but no upgrade. Is it possible to check up on it, I did try to log support, but kept giving me error. Here is the reference: AH20160401-267417.

Thanks in advance.

right, my internet is now completely off. No sync, throughput nothing.. Meh, tried to reboot the router, nothing. I feel like kicking a cat here now :D which i wont really do, but eish, this is not cool.

Hi!

At the moment Telkom Line Regrades are taking quite a bit longer than the usual 48 hours, Telkom has had to start manually processing quite a few of the line regrades, which drastically impacts on the time it takes. We'll be updating the ClientZone to reflect this.

I'll do my best to see if we can speed up the regrade.

That's not cool! Is your modem picking up the DSL line at all?

Hi Folks, somehow I dont think much has been fixed - getting in excess of 35K ping on my fav MMO ..... QQ (yep, for the record, on WA account, it flows smooth ~300ms)

Last time a Port reset sorted me out after I also had no connection. Can AH do this even though my line is not with them? I just want to see if this might help.
