Afrihost New Network Feedback

No one else is posting tonight, PurSpyk - so we need to run through some better tests here.
Please see my above posts for more detail.

There were others posting the same issues, and it happens at 19:00, and the speed tanks.

Switched to Afrihost.co.za. account, no improvement. We use Opendns, could that be an issue?

Are you using our news server? My downloads are cracking along at 1MB/s.

Using both Afrihost and Astraweb. In evening both crawls to a standstill. After midnight they both are flying. This is the same as last year's issues before we went to the new network

Not tonight, and anyone else needs to complete the tests so we can make positive strides forward here.
Please review my posts above for more test information.

Definitely huge disparity in the results here. I see later on you posted a good Axxess result but it's possible that refreshing your account when you change accounts (and resetting your DSL port and modem) might also play a factor in improving your connection.

Can we troubleshoot more around this and do some investigation? Please OM so I can get the process started :(

Here we go again

No Reboot , just change the DNS to Google 8.8.8.8 on the workstation rather than DHCP from the router giving out the above

Taking 9 minutes to retrieve 11000 Usenet headers just from the Afrihost news server. running rate 0.1 KB/s

I can assure you that no repetitions are being seen here.
Happy to take a closer look at the account though, shoot me a PM with your DSL username so we can get the ball rolling :)

Some pretty big changes in throughput here - can you keep your settings the same to see if throughput degrades over time again please?

and I get told I am the only 1 reporting issues?

Your results differ, I cannot assist until you review and run the tests from my previous posts.
I really want to help here, but I cannot fix what I don't know is going wrong here.

I ran a ping and trace test and it looks good. :)

There is no degrading of service over time , any and all tests done with Google DNS come back fine and I have no problems

Any use of your DNS gives Speed test difference between Capetown and Jhb
Any use of your DNS gives me intermittent name resolution problems

The moment I use google DNS , speedtests are fine to Cpt and JHB
all websites open 1st time and I can reach EveOnline

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 8.8.8.8
169.1.1.3
129.232.196.39

What more must I do, I have tried to download the torrents you listed, I posted the speed. I changed my account to Afrihost.co.za, and get the same results. Next step?

As per my previous replies:

Grab a 1GB free account from us to see if the throughput values are the same.

For testing purposes though, it would be useful to setup a Usenet instance to see how this compares to your torrents.

Also, trying switching from the Afrigreen account you're using now to your @afrihost.co.za account.

Tracert to google.com, as per Lara, mine actually seems better:
