Afrihost New Network Feedback

Facebook, instagram, whatsapp, Skype are all terrible ATM for me. Yet YouTube, Gmail, showmax are all fine, pointing to international problem's. I have been testing IS based accounts and considering jumping ship. Although it costs more. Sigh...
 
Definitely something up. Reset my router to give it a fresh go and again...

iTunes - Extremely Slow, Teamview is extremely slow or signs out, Google and Microsoft Services are slow. Steam seems 100%. Speedtest works perfectly. It is really hit and miss at the moment with a lot of things and the issue just stops after a certain time.
It been iffy since around 7:30 and around 10:00 or 11:00 it will just stop.

Trying another ISP account literally makes the issue just go away :confused::confused:

Some things are working perfectly and other things are just not working at all.

Ditto - for a good number of days, if not weeks already now.

Agreed something is up. 3 resets later and I can get Google to work and Uplay to patch but it will not sign in at all. And for the poster above, my brothers Google Play is not happy either. Switch to an FNB account and A for away....

Something must be wrong somewhere in the network.

Strange then. Are you in JHB? Im not having any issues with international sites.
 
Im also having the slow internet speeds, browsing incredibly slow to non existent...
Turbocharged my account and now everything is flying... this is such BS, can someone else with a normal capped account try turbocharging and let me know if it fixed the issue as well ?

Are you are normal uncapped? if so try turbocharging your account .... and see if that works.... worked for me...

Could be a CDN issue?
Did you grab a traceroute/ MTR to those affected services?

Shaping will only ever affect downloads/ P2P, leaving realtime services like browsing, streaming or VoIP as is.

Did you manage to grab any tests to show where the slow downs are coming in?

Your other tests in the thread show pretty low SNR margins :(
Not sure if you saw my previous post around the option to downgrade to 8Mbps?

I still have internet access via the pc and seem to be able to get to all sites.

I have switched my router to 3G failover via MTN and the Apple TV is instantly back to normal.

What is happening with Afrihost this time of day ?

Apple store content should come down from Akamai - are you seeing links created there? A tool like iftop/ wireshark should be able to tell you.
